Good thoughts Foggarty.
I personally don't attach much value to exotic cars and palatial mansions either. I prefer to live a debt free life. When it comes to hobbying, I like to plan and stay within budget. So far I am able to do that just fine.
There are plenty of examples of rocks stars and professional athletes splurging all their money on flashy things and ending up broke and penniless just after few years.
Here are some hypothetical scenarios. What are your impression for each car and what's your fav?
1: Cost exactly the same but two entirely diffent class of luxury: 2008 bmw 5 series versus a brand new 2012 hyundai sonata fully loaded.
2: 2003 Jaguar x with lots of miles on it
Versus 2012 Kia sorrento fully loaded suv. Same cost.
3: 2006 bmw 5 series versus old mercedes ml230 suv
4: old gmc delorian ("back to the future" mobile).
5: ten year old sporty coupe: toyota celica / mitsubishi eclipse.
6. Old porche 911
7: honda civic. Toyota corolla. / camry / hyundai elantra.
8. Lexus, accura, infinity brands
9. bugati / lamborghini / ferarri
Thoughts?
as long as it doesnt have lights and a siren, I dont care!
You know the old saying,, opposites tend to attract.
omg that was so freaking funny........and some of the other comments just cracked me up too, for entirely different reasons.....
As for the answer from me so I stay on topic..... um who knows and who cares, is right..... It matters who I drive "over the edge"..................
I am going back to my Gobble Gobble state of mind.

Best answer!!!
and how have you been?? David in FL...
sober right now, but at the time I wrote it yes.
Best small car Ford built. Still pissed that it got stolen.
You're picking older brand luxury cars vs. newer modern day cars. Not trying to insult providers, but a lot them of very materialistic. If you're going to try and impress her with your car, you need to be up to date on it.
If you're going to try and stun in a BMW to impress her, it had better be a 2011 or 2012. Because a materialistic provider or any woman for that matter can look at the style of the car, and tell if it's old or new. And a 2006 is considered old.
In fact the type of car you're driving may let the provider know how much she can or can't get from out of you.
I guess it doesn't help trying to convey my intended topic when writing it after 3 glasses of cabernet.
As for providers not caring... I think the truth is that many of them do... and possibly for the reasons you stated. lol
Not that there's anything wrong with it. Business is business and more business is always good.

No offense but who the hell cares... I don't buy a car because of what anyone else may percieve or otherwise infer from it... I buy a car because I like it and it serves its purpose.
It seems like people feel there is a certain persona that goes along with the type of car you own... while it may be true I'd say those steriotypes are no less irritating than racial profiling.
Just B/c a guy drives a Porsche does not mean he has a little dick!
Just b/c a person drives an exotic car does not make him a douche bag
Just b/c a guy drives a honda civic or VW bug does not make him gay...
we all have priorities and some attach different values to different objects. Some like big houses and some like small.. some like trucks and some like cars... some like sporty, and some like station wagons.
Until you actually talk to the person driving or witness them exhibiting behavior that would indicate one of the above to be true there is no reason to assume negatively...
Just my .02.....

My personal favorite would be a Lamborghini Reventon. Might rent that one of these days just for fun.
This wasn't about debating the value of cars. I personally drive an utter piece of shit hybrid with good gas mileage for commuting because I don't like needlessly wasting money on gas.
I do have a decent sports car but the gear is on "park" and sitting in the garage most of the time. I rarely if ever use it so I've placed it on the market to get rid of it.
Now if we're going to debate on the value of a good car, while I mostly drive a piece of shit myself and prefer to stay under the radar without flaunting, there are quite a number of evidence supporting the theory that women are more attracted to dudes driving a nicer car. They aren't called "babe-magnets" for nothing. Just sayin
A nice car does not necessarily equate to affluence. Pick ANY low income area in the U.S. and I can guarantee an expensive car is in the parking lot. It's all about priorities.
Look at the residents of DC... dilapidated hoses with $70K - $100K cars parked in front of them! Getting financing for a vehicle is entirely too easy if you ask me!
Found a site that offers financing for 20 years on cars that fit the definition of "exotic" so for less than a thousand a month some idiot can go out and buy a nice car and pay nearly 50% more (with interest)for the car just to get it financed.
Scary world we live in!!!!

What stupid ass, would take a 20 year loan out for a car?

Something tells me we would be quite surprised!
yes, it does. lol
By the way, what about bikers?
Where's the love?
When you book longer appointments, I almost always go out and do something....
Like EAT and get a drink or two.
Actually more than two. lmao
I have to say it doesn't matter much to me what car someone owns.
I would probably want a new less luxurious car rather then an older hotter car....if I had to chose. But thats just me. Take into consideration how much it costs to fix (after 3 years things start to go wrong and or need to be replaced) and the insurance....
Can I pick you up in this vehicle?
You wouldn't hold it against me? lol

btw, are u back in dc?
I shall return after the holiday
You Asian nut!
It doesn't matter to me what car a client has or even a guy I am dating. I am impressed if the man has wheels LOL! For your first one though, both beemers are nice, BUT the 2012 is far hotter then the older one. These days cars are looking pretty good! They are making many of them sporty and sleek and cars from Toyota, or Honda and Dodge and Ford! I always will be on the road and I'll see a car that catches my eye and it's some new model basic brand.
What REALLY catches my eye are the old muscle cars! LOVE them, and they are sure panty droppers. Lol, I am NOT THAT easy. ![]()
Happy Holidays
P.s. Don't drink and drive..... Don't let them catch you.. Ssshhhhhh ![]()
