Generally, it is not cost-effective. The old saying about a pretty girl should never have to pay for her own drinks applies here. If a provider wants to tour, why should she have to pay for her flight, if she can get a guy to pay for it? If you pay for FMTY, you are likely getting a small amount of her time, but expect that she may be seeing other guys while in your city.
Of course, the devil is in the details. Let's suppose you book a 2-hour date. How much extra does it cost to get her to fly to you? In many cases, it's a $1,000 addition. Some providers will insist on a first class ticket. In addition, you will need to pay for the flight up front, which increases your risk.
Here are 2 situations where it can make sense:
(1) She prices the FTMY such that it is only slightly more expensive than the date with her. For example, Melaniee Benson of NYC, when she came back from retirement a few years ago, was offering a FMTY package that was priced little different from her regular rate for 1-2 hours. That was an anomaly. If you are going to book a long date, maybe you can negotiate a FMTY package that costs no more than the cost of a date, but you are likely looking at spending $2,000-$10,000 for an overnight or a full day. If you want to spend that much, go for it.
(2) If there is a provider in another city who offers FMTY to come to your city and you are very eager to see her, this may be your only way to arrange it. If she regularly visits your city, I would recommend waiting for her next tour, but if she doesn't visit your area, you may want to fly her in. But I would expect that it will cost you at least $2,000--$1,000 for the flight and $1,000 for the date. But a FMTy date can easily run $5,000 and up, depending on the length of the date.
In short, if money is no object .... But expect a cost in the thousands.
No. I'd rather fly to her, i.e., arrange an appointment with an out of town girl I really want to see as part of a trip to where she lives. It gives me more control, less can go wrong, and in most cases is going to be more cost effective.
The only time I take sand to the beach is when I go to Vegas. IMHO, the majority of ladies in LV have the mindset of churn and burn, see as many dudes as you can and give them minimal service with a lot of rules.
Hence, I fly a companion to hang out with me. Other than that scenario to costly and a roll of the chemistry dice. I would have to be assured the chemistry is right so I would never FMTY for a first time meeting. We would have had to see each other previously before any FMTY. and then, maybe.
