It all depends on luck. Rumor is the Apple Stores have them on hand and release a handful each day, at random times.

I got lucky. I walked into the Apple Store at the Pentagon City Mall last Wednesday around 11A, asked, and was told they "just received some". The guy told me they typically sell out within an hour of making them available. I would guess mid morning, before lunch time, is the best time to get one. Good luck!

I have not had any luck finding the new Ipad 2 locally.  Anyone found them?

All the local retail outlets are sold out. Order from Apple's website.

at all. Most Apple stores receive ipad2 shipments daily, but they usually sell out early. People still line up before official opening times and store employees come outside as soon as they know what they have in stock to inform people in the line.

Also other retailers are getting shipments. It's just a crapshoot each day.

People who order online are waiting a month or longer to get their shipment.

Rumor has it that iPad 2.1 might be coming out this fall. Not confirmed by Apple. I just heard on CNBC.

picked up 2 last week in Bethesda, no problems getting them.
