If this is a competitor trying to screw these girls over, then they put some effort into it since it's an unusually well-written piece of writing for this kind of thing. Is it even possible that this is for real? I didn't think a police departments would actually resort to buying an ad for this kind of thing. Oh well, who knows...
.... that if LE poses as providers occassionally on BP I wouldn't put it past them to do ads like these also in the escorts section. *shrugs*. Though it's not uncommon for other providers or GUYS to waste their money to do ads like this or worse on there either.
thats the funniest name I seen in a while,(hey Horsey!) the hos must cry.
Do you think some idiot would call MCP and tell them they had a date. With one of those gals give a statement admiting to a crime and expect to reap a reward. Probably
If you're committing a crime, dont you have the right to still report a crime? Isn't there some federal law that says that? For example, if we were robbing a bank together, and you shot me, I can still call the police. If I break into your house, and you shoot me with an illegal gun, can't you still go to jail for that? So, if you have info on a dangerous criminal that the police are looking for, then give it up!
The Donut Boys can not comment on a pending investigation. All they can say is that there is a pending investigation. If they were to appeal to us "Johns" and "Streetwalkers" for our cooperation I honestly believe tha it is because of something far more serious than simple bait and switch prostitution. I dont think they will be taking out Backpage ads and making their presence obvious for something so petty.

On the credible side, I googled the phone number and it is the actual number for the Montgomery County PD Vice and Intelligence Unit.
On the non-credible side, the four locations in the paragraph aren't even in the state of Maryland, let alone Montgomery County, MD. Three of the four locations are in Virginia and I'm not sure why they even mention "Houston area." I searched by ad title and phone number in the Houston female escort section of BP and didn't get any hits. I did the same for the Virginia locations (except for Manassas, which is covered in the DC section) with similar negative results.
Further on the non-credible side, I thought cops only paid money for tips leading to the arrest and conviction of the bad guys?
MoCo is doing a lot of human trafficking investigations which requires (drum roll) trafficking! That is... other locations are involved. They have bought this sort of ad before and a former TER local fave got pinched because she was involved in a travelling minstrel show (trafficking underage girls and kidnapping).
They have the funding to do this. If they'd just weed out traffickers and leave legit ladies doin their own thing alone, I'd say more power to them.

I agree that Montgomery County is big into human trafficking investigations (with lots of federal $$$). It's just not clear to me why they wouldn't also post this ad, or a variation of it, on the BP boards in the locations they mentioned? As I said earlier, I did a quick search on the phone # and came up empty. On the other hand, once you cross state lines committing a crime, it becomes an FBI matter. Perhaps, if they piss off the FBI, MC becomes vulnerable to losing their federal dollars?
Further, if this is real and is human trafficking-related, why not state this fact up front? I don't know anyone in or out of the hobby who is FOR human trafficking, so I think it's a safe bet that they would have a sympathetic audience if they simply stated that they were going after human trafficking.
This ad just doesn't make sense. Either it's completely fake for some reason or we have yet another example of taxpayer dollars being wasted.
