Back in the day the "standard" price was $300 for an independent gfe hour. There was a wide discrepancy in the quality of looks and service. some ladies were charging 400 or 500, implying that they were better looking or provided a better service, but you could easily find a better time at the baseline 300...

You can find GFE providers at lower more reasonable prices. Of course many here they won't look at the other sites that are not eros/tyrst type sites. My sisters still go back to visit once a year. They live in CA so it's only 14 hours for them. It's a very nice place to live except it's extremely muggy in the summer. Everything is relatively cheap compared to the States. 22K there is probably equivalent to at least 60 K here in terms of purchasing power. The only thing that is expensive is housing because it's a very small island with a very high density of population. The food is great and super cheap. It's also very safe. The medical insurance is peanuts compared to the scams we have here.

I agree, the trip is nuts.  It used to be around $800 USD round trip using United from Dulles to SFO for a nice 4 hour layover then the flight across the Pacific.  This year, it was $3,800!  I had to go by way of JFK in NY which meant a 5 1/2 hr drive, but it was worth it to save almost 50%.  United has finally added back another daily flight from SFO to Taipei, so hopefully the pricing will slowly adjust back somewhat.
