I recently booked through priceline 3 1/2 star hotel allegedy in the "Downtown" area (downtown turned out to be very southwest) that required a key. I informed my friends prior and gave details instructions to the elevator so we could time our connection exactly. It worked out okay except one instance where neither of my keys were working and had to wait until a housekeeper happened upon us by opening the right elevator door. Very scary ! Needless to say I started using the stairs.
Has anyone else noticed that more and more DC hotels require a key to operate the elevator? Two hotels that i am absolutely sure did not require a key now do. Happy to tell people which ones made the switch by pm unless someone tells me it is ok to post the names on here directly.
