Where are good places to eat? Is there a grocery store nearby hotel area? I am so nervous and excited at same time. Any tips and info would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Depending on where you’re staying there’s a Whole Foods (two actually) and a Trader Joe’s semi-close to Tysons. Not really within walking distance, though.

There’s also a WalMart where you can pick up groceries.

Interesting question.  Google would be an excellent source of information.

And Harris Teeter is in the area, but again not too close to the hotels. Probably the Walmart is the best bet.

Exactly, the ONLY reason for this post is to advertise she's coming to town. She doesn't give a fuck about a grocery store lol

That’s funny, I think Internet tough guys that post from an anonymous alias from an ALREADY anonymous username who sling barbs at people they don’t know is pretty pathetic.

Tysons is a very big area with more office space than most big cities, and it has three or four different Metro stops (McLean, Tysons, Greensboro, and Spring Hill) depending on how you count. The office parks and hotels spread around pretty widely. If your hotel is near a Metro, you will have lots of options. Unfortunately, Tysons isn't all that walkable. Google Maps is probably you best bet both with grocery stores near your Metro stop and grocery stores near close-by Silver Line metro stops.

As to where to eat, Tysons isn't great but there are lots of chain restaurant options including upscale chains like Fogo de Chao and Capital Grille. Really nice and interesting restaurants are mostly in the District in the Penn Quarter  neighborhood (Gallery Place metro), near the White House or on Capitol Hill, or Georgetown. If you haven't been there the Jose Andres restaurants (Think Food Group) are worth trying and most are in Penn Quarter.

Tyson's, if you're interested, is a historic example in how not to do urban/suburban planning.  I'm talking about the immediate area where Routes 7 and 123 intersect.  It was farmland & "too far out" in the 70s.  Then, a developer drew up a master plan to turn it into a major retail and business hub.  Nobody would live there.  You would have to drive from somewhere else.  In NOVA, this would be Reston, Herndon, Vienna, Fairfax, and other more residential areas.  The county board of supervisors strongly objected to the development and kept voting down infrastructure bills that provided roads and other utilities for the massive development.  The developer kept suing Fairfax County asserting that the county was obligated to provide the infrastructure he required.  He kept winning and the county kept voting down legislation.  The result was massive development without supporting infrastructure which led to complete gridlock, among other things.

I agree with other posters about the lack of decent dining beyond the malls' food courts and chain restaurants.  The Silver Line Metro stations do add the ability to go into DC.  Plan on a 45-minute trip after you've waited 20-25 minutes for a train.  You're going to have to drive everywhere you want to go and your clients are going to have to drive to see you.

No I actually asked because stores are called different things in different states. For example where I am in Chicago we have Jewel but in Massachusetts where I lived it's called Shaws but it owned by the same company. Once when I was in grad school our counselor explained to us to ask questions because she realized that people are coming from different states and things are called different names. She relayed this story of how a girl came to her crying saying she could not find the grocery store . Funny thing she was
"Googleing ". The counselor asked what she was looking up and realized it was the name of the store  in her city because that is what she knew. It did not exist so she was frustrated. You have to remember some people rarely leave their city let alone state. Hence why I asked. You could already find out I was coming by my ads posted everywhere.

That’s clearly not the point.

You just self-owned yourself. You’re absolutely right, I don’t know anything about you (and honestly don’t care to…you’re just another poster in the Internet with what he thinks are “hot takes”) just as you know NOTHING about the members that posted a response to the thread…but you, Internet tough guy, decided to call them “manginas” (I won’t even start on the misogyny).

WTF does it matter how long you’ve been around? Makes sense that you’re one of those dudes who think that being a member of an Internet board for a long time gives you some kind of cred.

You posted some bullshit, I called you out on it. End of story.

Google does not tell me how big the store is though or what type it is. I am looking for a small town type not a Walmart. I like to eat actual food like organic stuff. Guess I should be more specific in my post.

Wow that is great information! Thank you. I guess I am close to J Gilbert's so I may go there and belly up to the bar for a drink and some dinner.

Last time I checked you were the one who was tripping all over yourself trying to help someone, when all you could have said was go use fuckin' google.  You weren't the first obsequious mangina on the board, and you won't be the last one..

You are as your moniker suggests.. An irrelevant one..

🤦‍♂️ My guy…you’re not quite as sharp and witty as you think you are, and you self-own yourself with all your “witty” repartees.

I don’t know shit about you and I don’t care. Why did I call you “gramps”? Because of your self-important post of

“..  I have been around a long, long time son..”

Again, no one gives a shit if you were a founding member of TER. And what you think is a “burn” to demonstrate your superiority by referring to me as “son” is directly related to me calling you “gramps”. You think calling me “son” exerts some superiority over me, which it doesn’t, LOL, so I respond by calling you “gramps”. See how witty and thought out rebuttals work?

Who’s clueless now?

You can’t even make a cogent argument. I responded to your self-important post since you think your the arbiter of what a valid thread is, and all your responses are “what abouts” and deflection.

You posted

“Last time I checked you were the one who was tripping all over yourself trying to help someone, when all you could have said was go use fuckin' google.”

You were able to infer that I “was tripping over myself” from my post? LOL. More like a case of making a story to fit your narrative. OP asked a question, I replied. That’s how open Internet boards work. Tough shit.

Good retort.

An argument backed up with valid points does not equal a hissy fit.

Again, deflection on your part.  Just man up, take the loss, and admit you posted a shitty take.

My last post on this because this has gotten old.

You realize that this is an open discussion board, right? I didn’t “slide into your private DMs” as the kids say. So while you replied to Client5745’s post, your reply is posted for everyone to see and everyone has the ability to reply to YOUR reply.

Now there’s no arcane Internet board reply etiquette that I’m aware of that prevents someone from replying to another’s post. If you wanted to reply without anyone else “injecting” themselves into the “conversation” then you probably should
have PMed him directly.

As it stands, this very thread IS the conversation.

You are absolutely 100% right that there isn't any rule on the INTERNET that you can't post on another person's thread.

But do at your own peril. You want to get bitch slapped homie... By all means.. Keep putting yourself in the middle of two grown ups having a conversation..  Good thing about the Internet is that bitchslapping here is just another post..

Now go set up an appointment with Maggie... Make sure to bring her some groceries from the store on you way to her incall..LOL
