Aphrodite Companions cancels DC again

twice in the last month Aphrodite Companions have booked a girl to tour here.  Twice they canceled the tour.

:(

They don't even list DC any longer on the cities on the tour schedule. What's up with that?

I can't speak for AC however I may be able to offer an insight if I may?

From this side of the line hotels in DC are a bitch! In all the markets Fantasys is in this one for hotel costs are highest. Keep in mind you want to be where clients can get to you and in season that can run you upwards of 250 - 300 a night. Right now it is Cherry Blossom Festival and decent hotels are NOT discounting.  Chances are AC didn't put major DC events on their calendar and know NOT to schedule during them. Often a provider will announce, pay DC rates and not get any pre-bookings. If they are smart, they'll cancel and take the loss of just the room if it is non-refundable.

In the case of an out of town agency, they could have sent her, however to do so on the "hope" of bookings is just not a wise bet. Add to this, it's the last week of the month and 18 days from tax day and you have a lose/lose probability matrix.

I'm sorry to read about your disappointment and I hope I may have added to your understanding of the dynamics we have to work with.

Sincerely,

Good insight, Lee. There are a lot of dynamics on all parts that affect these decisions.

There are a few agencies that don't come to DC often or at all. I've always wondered why. Some cater to small markets, and hotel costs would make sense there.

But sometimes they go to New York, Los Angeles--are deals better there in the prime traffic spots, akin to our Dupont Circle?

Or maybe they just don't like us DC guys.

Thanks Lee for your insight. DC seems to be an enigma at times for agencies and providers. Still, I was sorry to see that they canceld again. I hope they will try again.

Hello DC!

A gorgeous friend and I are planning a trip to DMV area soon. Any insight on areas to stay not just downtown/Dupont/Capitol Hill area. Is it worth working from Arlington, or anywhere in Maryland? I understand the commute is relatively easy. Any other insight on working in that market would be very much appreciated!! Please email me privately if you prefer [email protected]  Would hate all those Cherry Blossoms to get in the way of us other pretty flowers!

Aurora xoxo
