new to NoVA and originally from NYC, the culture here is really different!
Seems like there are more independent providers the closer you get towards DC, but the further out you go, the more agencies there are? Seems kind of silly to me, I wish some of the more top notch providers would consider making some time West of Reston? Or is it just totally not worth it?
I guess the real problem is there are tons of ppl working in Ashburn/Reston/Sterling - and honestly, for me to leave beyond Reston even just to goto Tysons can become quite a chore and ultimately I end up not doing anything because of the hassle.
On top of that, a lot that do do Tysons actuall are in Vienna, Merrifield and then into Arlington/Alexandria - and that really is horrible.
I just feel like there are plenty to keep interest alive (but i could be wrong) and was just wondering out loud
If you are West of Reston out I66 for example, Tysons may be a good bet for quality. Not that much in general in the Dulles area afaik, although I am sure there may be other opinions. As Reston grows up, you may find more providers in that area. There is one Very Well Known provider in the metro DC area who will take incalls in Reston for people she knows. Do some homework; I will tell you she is very highly reviewed.
. . . with excellent reputation. But if she's good enough to be my regular, I'll go anywhere.
I live in MD but loves to go to Tysons. Dulles is a bit too far for me. There's really nothing west of Reston, unlike Columbia where if you go further, it's Baltimore.
And how is it different in DC? I'm sure providers up in NYC are loath to go out to West Jerkwaterfuck, NY. Hell, a lot of them won't even leave Manhattan.
I will be visiting the Dulles area next month. I had such a great time there my last trip that I'm making it a regular stop when I come to the DC area.
I used to do Sterling and Leesburg ALL the time and it was very popular. I never understood why more providers didn't venture that way. Tons of guys that live and work west of Herndon and they don't want to drive to Tysons or farther to play.

Yep, I totally agree. I realized a lot of people were coming from Reston to Tyson's to see me, so I started doing weeks in Reston and it worked out great.
Winchester was a bit too far though. I think going out that far, you have to give people a lot of advance notice.
I second this. I moved to NoVA about two years ago for a job, and it's difficult (but not impossible) to find anyone West of Tysons. I live near Dulles because I travel a bit, and hate the drive downtown. I'll go to Tyson's, but that's it. In that short time, I've had two regulars: one who lived in Reston and one who visited frequently. My Reston friend moved to try her luck in Vegas, and my frequent visitor got out of the biz.
I, for one, would be a happy guy if I could find a regular who visited the Dulles area every couple of weeks. :-
