Not amusing in the slightest. I pretty much have to agree, and it's depressing. Twenty years ago the conditions were much more favorable for the hobbyist. Agencies from South Florida were dispatching gorgeous women in droves to travel up and down the Northeast coast. It was a dazzling time to be a monger. Then the feds busted those agencies, and the well began to dry up a bit. A local private viewing agency that served me well for fifteen years changed hands five years ago, and has been run by a maniac ever since. She's still there.

You didn't have to present a mug shot selfie holding up your driver's licence to get screened, and deposits were not required. The prices were a bit more reasonable, although hobbying was never cheap by any means. Providers are now trying to squeeze as much as they can out of the pain to glory ratio with 2 hour minimums and four digit fees. Deep dive research, and comparative shopping is the monger's best defense in these troubled times.

I understand and agree with the rant.  But I disagree on the price you put.  

It is the market economy.  In fact, I applaud them for the price they get or ask, for little value (my perspective, not fact).   It makes every business sense to get paid to sleep, travel, eat, shop and surf.  Why not?  

Cliche:  Price is what you pay, value is what you get.

You on the other hand have looked at the value you want. Patronize, promote, enjoy the diamonds in the rough.  Pat yourself for being smart.

Since covid-19 pandemic hit demand has gone up for provider services and supply has gone down of providers.  Also, many hobbyists are getting mega pay raises (salary floors are 200K in the dc area) and don't mind pay higher prices.   Many providers have had to raise their prices because phone is ringing too much.

I offer a service that many do not. I agree anyone can open their legs but can they do real Nuru?

This is not a criticism of anyone but there are folks out there who value the lack of information and leverage that to take advantage of new and uneducated mongers. Sorry to all but it's a fact.  

Just as there are different services, there are different levels of service. Add in SA and it's a whole new ballgame!

I appreciate the post Boondocks, and I generally agree.  I have a related question:  Why is this DC discussion board so dead?  Not that I monitor other regional discussion boards, so they may be dead as well.  I don’t know back to 2002, but I remember this board in 2010-2015 timeframe being very active.  

A few remarks after nine years of doing this.

1. There are many ladies who do not post ads on TER anymore.  I know at least 8-10 who used to post regularly requested their profile removed around 2018-2019.  They now only advertise on their Twitter account and they are more than booked.

2. Pricing is just that - pricing.  Let's be serious.  We're talking about sex.  The most intimate thing you can do with another person.  I don't mind paying good amount for quality.  In fact, I prefer it over quantity.  If I wanted to just cum I'd do it myself.  This isn't to say all ladies should get what they are asking for, but if the market defines it you can't argue it.  I regularly see ladies who require $500-$600 an hour.  A few times I've seen ladies who are $1000 an hour.  I just did in May in Vegas.

3. The industry is different.  There are way more agencies now than say even four years go.  There are more ladies from out of the country than ever: Asians, Latinas, etc.  

4. I also miss the days when I could visit TER and read every single lady who was visiting my city.  But, that's no longer the case.  Most independents won't advertise here.  It's sad, but I receive many of their touring emails and they are always booked so there is no reason for them to advertise here.

5. COVID also changed many things.  Everything costs more including the risk of getting sick.  Flight, hotel, etc are all more.  We're no longer in 2017-2019.  It's a new era of economy.

In the end, understand what we're paying for.  It's not a box off a shelf at the local grocery store.  

The change I've noticed since COVID is there are far less young, American providers touring in DC.

Ever since COVID, almost all of the girls I've seen have been from South America or Asia.  I *love* South American and Asian girls, so that's not a complaint -- just an observation.  But back before COVID, I also routinely saw young American providers who would visit DC.  (By young I mean in their 20s.)

It seems like most of the American providers in town now are all older.  I have nothing but respect for older providers and the hobbyist who patronize them, but they're not my preference.

I'm a customer of the agency Jennifer's Models.  Pre-COVID, I saw tons of younger American girls through them.  Post-COVID, I don't remember Jenn advertised an American.

I depend on reviews when i purchase items on line like my $29 slow cooker. It's red.  Things were slow for me as for everyone during the pandemic. I did not lower my rates and I made it.  
I would not spend a $1,000 on anything with out having an idea of what i was getting.

10 to 15 years ago...

We had TGND, Prime DC, Classy Escorts, and Elite Girlfriends that consistently brought good-looking White American girls that performed excellent GFE. Plus, the agencies in South Florida also sent their hotties up here every week (I still get emails from Perfect Ten, but their girls are all Latinas now). That was the golden days of mongering. I remember seeing two or three girls a week. It was like a kid in a candy store. Those were the days. Now I see K-girls once in a while and that's about it.

This is going to be the unpopular opinion/post that goes all over the place, but fuck it.  

Every few months a thread like this gets started reminiscing about the golden days of yore, and how there are no more unicorns and the prices now are crazy.  

I agree, there was almost an embarrassment of riches as far as the agencies mentioned by Asianmannova 10 - 15 years ago.  

Prices were $300 or under for an hourlong GFE session with white/“American” providers (you guys know Asian and Latina providers can be American too, right?).  

But let me ask you this: How much were you making 15 years ago?

Since I dared to pose the question, I’ll answer it. I was making about $48,000 before overtime and bonuses. Now I’m making north of $125K.  

I’m not saying this to brag, I’m making a point. My income has gone up allowing me to afford the rate increases. Back then I was hitting up Craigslist and Backpage girls at $150 a HH, $300, maybe $350 for an hour.  

But as my income has increased, so has my expenses…as have EVERYONE else’s, to INCLUDE working girls.  

15 years is a long time, and the cost of living has gone up, especially in the DMV. The only women that can afford to offer an hour for under $400 are women who are coming from countries where the US dollar they bring home is worth more. There are a few “American” providers in the price range that people are pining for, but mostly providers touring from flyover states (not shitting on the flyover states). Case in point:

She visited a few months ago. I didn’t see her because her screening was too stringent, but’s that’s her prerogative, and I don’t fault a woman looking out for her safety.  

Tiffany Teigen used to live in NOVA. She has since relocated to Ohio, but tours her occasionally. Her hourly rate used to be $350. She’s since increased to $450. Good for her.  

This is the only industry where a woman can determine her own worth. More power to them.  

If I see a hot provider with rates above $600 an hour, I say “wow, good luck” and move on. I don’t spew some misogynistic shit about “Golden Pussy Syndrome”.

I paid 2K for 2 hrs with the #1 provider in the TER's top 100 about ten years ago. I also saw plenty of high-end providers in the top 50 that charge 500-600 an hour around that time.  Their average scores were at least 9.5. I checked the rates of the two I saw that are still active. Both Tawny Sun and Savannah Taylor charged 500 when I saw them and they charge 600 now. That's more than fair for the cost of living adjustment of 10 years and I would have no problem whatsoever paying that amount if I decide to see them again.

The problem I have with providers in this area is a lot of them charge 600-700 with an average score of mid to high 8's. If you check the national top 100, you will find plenty of them in other areas of the country that charges the same amount, but their average scores are 9.5 or higher. Take TER ID 39061 for example. I used to pay 300-350 to see her about 10 to 15 years ago. She is 15 years older now, offers the same menu as she did back then, and her average score is not even 8. So how can she possibly double her rate to 700 an hour? Yet people still pay her rate to see her as evidenced by her recent reviews (she probably offers discounts but that's still a lot). She told me back in 2007 that she turned 29. You do the math and figure out how old she is now. Her listed age is 31-35. Oldtimers like me know how old she is but newbies don't. I think it's fair to say there is a shortage of quality providers that charge reasonable rates in this area based on comparisons to providers in other areas.
