I have been watching the BP ads for Dupont circle and other places in DC. I noticed

1. THhey don't have prices.

2. Providers who had out of state area codes all of the sudden have a dc area code (202).

Makes me wonder if the sting ads.

on your number 2 - haven't you seen that you can get a $20 pre-paid phone at 7-11 these days!

there are still a lot of good value on BP, you got to be careful but not with the BS like this. It has nothing to do with how the ad is written

Why would a visiting provider have a out of state area code on Saturday then have a 202 area code today ?

Seems pretty strange to me and raises a big red flag.

Best to play it safe, since there was a posting on this board about major sting in DC back in May 2010.

I follow some basic rules.

Stay away from BP and CL unless the girl has reviews on TER. Lot of girls like to advertise on BP, but they do have their website. That is OK

I stick to well reviewed agencies and independents.

You just have to decide which one you're willing to take.

Posting observations is fine. It is up to us to make the judgment for ourselves.

There is a line between caution and abject paranoia.

Considering we're talking Backpage and as it has been related to me by industry colleagues, you have no idea the number of bargain hunters who "bitch" about having to call an out of area exchange because it cost more.

Providers going to walmart getting a $20 trac phone is not unusal.

Ockham's razor applies here.

Almost no one pays for long distance calls anymore. Most land lines and cell phone are all inclusive. Hard to believe "bargain hunters" are bitching about out of area numbers. However your quote from Sautar is apropos.

Meh.  I just reviewed a bwckpage ad girl (albeit Baltimore) and there was no price on her ad.  I think it's a marketing tool to entice inquiry as compared to other ads that list the price.

OTOH, the experience sucked, so maybe I'll just stick with lee, dreams, and Audrey!!
