This is a new one for me, so I'm taking it to the board for discussion/feedback. Here's the scenario: A friend of mine is looking to start the hobby. He is asking for advice on how to start - I've related my newbie experiences and the information on the Internet, but he's looking for some assistance since he is one of those guys that is pretty shy until he gets warmed up. With no references, he is requesting me to vouch for him. My feeling is that hobbying is an adult experience that requires maturity and responsibility (among other things). In other words, he should take care of it himself. Correct me if I'm wrong.
just doesn't cut the mustard. There is no good reason he could not provide his own information in order to see a lady. Not all ladies use only references as a means of screening.
It is easy for you to know the guy, in general, but you definitely cannot have an idea of how he would treat an SP in private... and if something goes wrong, well, you would be in a horrible position then... do you really want to put your reputation on the line like that?
I have had calls / e-mails saying I know So and So and want to meet you. I call Mr. So-so and he has never formally met Mr. So and So.....so it goes without saying, if it doesn't cut the mustard, it won't cut the KY either.
refering him to ladies that you have already seen is good...but we screen not only for LE but to know who we are dealing with. I wouldn't be surprised if personal info was still required instead of references
If one of my long time & good clients referred a friend to me who was new to the hobby I would most definitely see him. Otherwise, I would probably have the newbie provide me with the necessary info. All hobbyists were once newbies and managed to survive. Plus, most only have to do it once. Once you see one girl, you then have a provider reference.
