Question for folks... Should I/we be concerned???

OK... Not trying to raise the panic alarm but was wonder if I should give this any creedence?

Recieved a text meassage this morning (6:30 AM EST) and this is what is said... verbatim!

"WARNING: Your phone line has been linked to illegal escort services, massage services, and adult services. Please be advised you will be arrested and prosecuted by law if caught in the act."

"Fairfax Police Department"

"(703) 478-0904"

The text came from (301)458-6966 but the (703) number above is a valid number for FFX PD...

My question is do you think this is just a mass warning or perhaps something more? I'm a tad hesitant to see anyone as a result and cancelled an appointment I had later today so I'm wondering if I should walk lightly or if this is just a "we came accross your number and are trying to scare you" type text?

Any feedback would be much apprecaited!

Thank you.

Some one is fucking with you and you need to figure out who you have shared your number with recently. Do you have a new girlfriend? Maybe a jealous ATF....

Was seeing someone for a while but that was months ago...

Aside from that I could not say I would have any suspisions otherwise.

and if that number is truly the number you used for the playtime, I would be VERY VERY concerned

This is why I got a cheap throw-away phone at WalMart.  Paid cash and add minutes by paying cash at any 7-11.

I appreciate the feedback! One of the great reasons to belong to such a community!

I figure I'll just ignor it for now and look for anything peculiar!

Perps and alleged perps only talk on TV. Do not say anything. Remain silent. Tell them you will only discuss and say anything when you lawyer arrives.

Never ever volunteer any info to LE. Do your best Sgt Schultz imitation

The 301 number is an unpublished line based in Westchester, MD

Know anybody there?

Why would it come from a Maryland phone number referencing a VA PD?  Someone if fucking with you.

I don't know anything about this situation (you have a PM) but:

I agree that generally speaking L.E. would just make an arrest not a warning, period! but i heard of girl (i read alot to stay safe) in C.T. that got a warning. SHE WAS TOLD, "to help LE right now set up guys or leave town now RIGHT NOW (Stamford CT.). and it was legit (she left town in record time), you can goggle the number below if you don't want to take my word for it. (i keep it saved in my phone- although the whole situation, is over, and had nothing to do with me any anyway). They only gave her the warning because after several attempts to catch her, she proved an allusive screener.

google this number if you dont believe me: 203-777-6311
(I was back doing those F.B.I. underage stings (4/09)- one of the 'Operation Cross Country')

---guys can you see why there is a legit need to ask for you personal info, to screen out legit hobbyers by legit/ reviewed providers before meeting,??????----

Kisses and more, Kaylie

"you will be arrested and prosecuted by law if caught in the act."
IF....IF you are caught in the act.

When leaving a session and you are approached, you know nothing, volunteer nothing and say nothing. That will be your saving grace.

Absoluely right!  Generally, unless you are driving or occupying an automobile you do not have to produce identification.  You have the right to remain silent and do not have to answer questions. STFU:)

You will find stories about LE just plain out warning/harrassing folks. Several stories involving Fairfax and MoCo. LE might use this as a cheap tactic to discourage hobbyists.

Someone left me two VM's later in ths day saying to watch my back because LE was "on to me" and looking to bust me with the next girl I was with.

LE does not follow johns looking to catch them in the act... at least not unless they think they are doing something more serious I would assume?

ANyway... After the two warnings I went to see a lady last night and had a good time. I had originally cancelled for fear the warnings were credible but that has since past!

If you recieve like messages just ignore... they are likey some jackass who found out his GF is a hooker and is pissed or LE's vain attempt to thwart hobbiests from seeking their induglgence in the hobby!

There is an hour long lecture on this subject available, do not have the URL, but it contains a law professor giving a lecture to a room full of law students on dealing with the police and should be easily found.  Bottom line, it tells veiwers that, if Ever you are detained by LE, DO NOT say anything!  EVER!  No matter what they say/ask!!

First off, I'm not a lawyer, and even if I were, I'm not YOUR lawyer.  Do your research, and don't count on anything you read here to be the definitive word.

They can ASK you anything, but you do not generally have to reply -- unless you are driving or getting on an airplane, you don't have to carry ID.  However, if you refuse to give your name, you might get held until you can be positively identified.

If they don't have reasonable suspicion that you have committed a crime, they can't detain you.  If you ask, "Am I free to go?", unless you are being arrested, they will tell you "Yes".  Walk away calmly (don't sass, and don't run), and don't say anything else.  If they do have reasonable suspicion, they will tell you, and at that point, you're in trouble.

I hope I don't have to tell you to avoid bringing weapons or drugs when you go see a provider.  (You might be surprised -- one of my ATFs ran into an issue with this once.)
