So the last provider I had did a background check on me using, according to her, a background check site unique to the hobby. So she came up with an arrest record for me from 2004 and wanted to know what that was all about.
I was clueless and very excited given that fact that the IRS was hacked for over 1 million SS with names.
I have not had a moving traffic violation or parking ticket in 40 years let along anything I would consider an arrest. No I am not a saint but I am good at not getting caught.
Anyhow, since she already had my first and last name, she had complete access to my public records. To find out what I looked like I did a "Been Verified" background check on myself, payed the $30 and send her the results to prove I had no arrest record.
So we did have a date and a very pleasant one at that. I did ask her what the story was on the "arrest".
Well apparently there is a site providers use for doing background checks. And when you run a check on someone it comes up with a summary list of things it found (with no detail of course). And there apparently is a Traffic/Arrest header with the number of hits found. However, if you do not pay the $30 or so you can not see the details.
Well, please providers. If you can not afford to pay the $30 for the full report then please do not accuse clients of having and "arrest" record. In my case it turned out that in 2004 I had an expired inspection sticker on one of my cars. At that time I had two driving children and one wife with two cars pulse me. Between all of us we (I as the appointed alpha male) had 5 vehicles to administer. Well I was also working my F'ing ass off and did not notice my car had expired. The Jack Booted Thugs from Fairfax did however and I got ticketed (OH excuse me, ARRESTED).
