I could not agree with you more as I think C69 and adultworks has the best information outside of the US. If you or anyone else wants some advise about UK, Paris, and more in Europe PM me... Im going back to Europe in 2 days from Australia.
I lived in London for five years and return occasionally for business. I've found Adultworks to be really good, especially if you are interested in indys. The only issue with adultworks is their server seems to bog down during peak (evening) use time. They have a really good search engine and the review system works like e-bays with a very short summary and extra reporting if the hobbyist wishes to write more. Punternet works well as well.
The hobby environment is much more relaxed. No LE activity, no real rip offs, but you still need to check for performance, age of photos etc. Planning ahead works best, but there are also FS massage parlors as well. Stay out of the nudie bars, they are all rip offs.
Captain69 and Punternet are good sites. I replied yesterday but, for some reason, the post did not go up. TER has several active reviews but it is a more recent addition to the London scene so; you get a lot of providers with 1 review and mostly from agencies.

I had the misfortune of believing they were like US ones. With hidden charges, minimum very expensive drink rules, I spent $1200 for one hour. All I got was a table dance, two bottles of supposed Champagne for the lady, one watered down Jack Daniels drink. The place was in SOHO. Avoid like the London Plague.
Beware of the photos ads in the phone booths, they are all mostly bait & switch. Pretty girl on the picture, F-ugly toothless hag shows up.
Mostly Eastern Euro Ladies working the circuit. Make sure you get a well reviewed one. Beware of the Upsell too. You have been warned.
If you are looking for a model or star - you might want to try photogirls.net. They seem to have an impressive list and they post frequently on the porn stars board.
I've played in London several times with pretty good success, generally using Captain 69 reviews. The high end is Bentley's, but a very well-reviewed lady I have seen and enjoyed a couple of times from that outfit went with Rosie recently when she started Kingsmistress. I think that Rosie, as the new kid on the block, would treat you right...she is trying to establish a reputation.
