Even if they are not LE some clients will harm the girls even with references.
It's an unfortunate fact.
I have been lucky.
Others not so much.

LE, the "domino effect", safe hobbying, and the 5th ammendment

If hobbyists would not pee down their pants when LE contacts them with the "why have you been in contact with known prostitutes" question but excercise their 5th Ammendment Rights, the domino effect, which leads from client to provider to more clients to more providers, would cease to be a successful investigative strategy for LE.

The answer to a question like that is to say NOTHING. Do not be defensive. Do not lie. Do not make excuses. Do not try to placate. Making false statments or "mis-statements" in and of itself will get you into serious trouble. Let a lawyer do your talking.

Likewise if provders would be careful not to say, post, or "tweet" anything that constitutes and "admission against interest", draws unwanted attention, or implicates hobbyists, and if they would be careful about what records they keep, including those that lead to other providers, it would not be so easy to roll up provider, her clients, other providers, more clients, more providers etc etc etc.

Folks in the DC area have gotten way to "comfortable" - even undisciplined - about what they spread around, who they talk too, even what they say back channel. If you do not realize that there is an LE presence on these boards it's time to get a clue.

For providers and hobbyists who do not want to be a part of the problem or be caught up in the current unpleasantness, realize several things:

Drugs and the hobby cannot coexist. Introducing drugs into the picture brings the hobby to the attention of some very serious and capable investigators and makes it easier to find and prosecute hobbyists and providers. People who do, buy and sell drugs are participating in a venture that is very un-private and indiscreet.

Problems in the personal life of a provider make her vulnerable to LE and make her clients vulnerable as well. This includes personal or relationship drama, behaviors other than the hobby that put her on LE radar, personal relationship drama, and prior arrests. She will forever be on the radar once she has been previously charged.

Providers need to insist on good screening. One thing that is NOT good screening in view of LE strategy is "real name and workplace verification". Useless.

Clients need to observe good communication and contact protocols - be discreet. Blend in. And above all watch the back channel talk. PMs and the RO/PO board are not invisible to LE.

Clients need to manage their personal lives as well. Do not be sloppy. An enraged SO who hires a private investigator and puts a key logger onto his system and from there onto the systems of providers can gather very damaging information which can be and often is passed on to LE.

If we don't want things to spiral totally out of control some of us had better wise up and get serious about protecting ourselves and one another.
