Adding more rules and structuring the board further makes you look like a control freak. Do it with Mini reviews? That's over the top.

If your ideas made the board more fun and free flowing then cool. I just don't see how building another dam will help.

I think it's working OK as long as people see it and use it, same with the minis

1. how do you feel its working - I think it is experiencing growing pains. Anything like this takes a while to change behaviors.

3. do you think it's a good idea to attempt to do the same thing for Mini Reviews - I do. It would make it easier to find minis.

Now, the things that works about this idea of your, IMO, is that it makes it easier to find stuff. If TER would get off their dead ass and make good use of the tools and information they currently have... this wouldn't be necessary. There are lots of ways to make searches, reviews, etc better, and IMOthose are the things that need it.

Also make all ads post onto one thread?

I see your attempt is to 1) make finding information easier, and 2) clear up space so more topics can stay on the first page.

My suggestion may be a bit facetious but I do understand why some people think over-regulation is not a good idea.  TER already is HEAVILY moderated.  Over half the stuff people attempt to post never make it onto the board anyway.  Applying more rules/guidelines may rub people the wrong way.

Like most other message boards have.

That way you could make two stickies a day...one for ISOs, one for mini's...

and let the rest of the board be whatever.  But I don't think that you can do sticky threads that stay at the top, so what you are doing now works well enough...

I'll explain my moderating philosophy.

I look at every post that whether moderated or not. I first determine if the post is compliant by the stated TER written rules.  
I'm very conscience of over moderating and or censorship. I happen to believe people can agree and disagree in a somewhat civil manner without getting personal. I'm a business man and hate yes people. I like change and ideas as long as the majority of those affected see the benefit and are in favor of it. That is why I ask for feed back.

What I will allow is the free exchange of debate and I am aware it can get heated and that's fine as long as it doesn't get personal.  If someone has an opinion and someone differs I will let the exchange take place. I will not let someone have their say without giving the opposing person the opportunity. I will allow any post that meets TER posting guidelines.

What I will not allow is, any personal information of any kind on the board, outing anyone by name whether real name or TER Moniker, threads that discuss recent bust that have links to pics and personal names,  copies of email exchanges, negative comments whether direct or implied in a providers ad (If you want to start a new thread outside of the ad thread with a comment or opinion then I will post it) giving out hotel names or too specific information of locations, ads with symbols or special characters in the subject line.

There is a difference in me forcing something on this community and the community self imposing it. You as the community will determine if this works or not. If you choose to answer threads that are posted then it will remain status quo.  You choose to ignore or explain to the original poster that it needs to be posted in the daily thread to get participation then change will occur. This is your board and you do have a say in how it is run as long as we stay within the stated board rules. Btw which can be found at the top of each board in the message board policies or the self help center. If everyone would read it and comply then virtually 100% of all post would be approved

Just so everyone knows I am the primary moderator but there are 2 other ghost mods that are also here. Just as I ghost mod 3 other boards. We exchange opinions on threads. It's rare that a decision is made to not allow a post or remove one without first a dialog between the 3 of us. 99.9% of the post that are denied fall into basically these categories, ads that don't meet posting ad policy, negative comments in a provider ad, invalid mini review format and post with links that have real names and identities.
If that is censorship then I guess I'm guilty.
