I have been hobbying off and on since the early 90's. When I first started hobbying in DC once you made an appointment you had to drive to a certain location look for and use a payphone to call and than the lady would give you directions.
Fast forward to today. Had an appointment with a well known lady. As it is today I was told to call her assistant from the hotel lobby to get the room #. Well about one mile to the hotel my iphone just went out. Tried everything but my iphone would not work and no numbers would come up on my screen. So I pulled into a Kinkos on 14 and K St to use their computers..Unfortunately their computers block porn so I could not go into her website to get her # nor TER. I just emailed her and told her what happened but did not hear back because I figured she was waiting for me and rarely checks her email. Besides even if she responded she would not give me her room # via email. Needless to say I stood her up because I could not call from the hotel. Went to Verizon they got me another phone and called her assistant 3 hours later to explain. So ladies next time you get stood up do not think it was on purpose
Guys also have to miss appointments because they get into car accidents, or their wife unexpectedly comes home and they can't get away to call.
But how often do you get into a car accident. How often does your phone randomly die. How often are you unable to even go hide in the bathroom to send a quick message.
I suspect that 1 out of 100 no-shows actually has a truly legitimate reason. The rest are bullshit. If I was an escort and a client no-showed on me, he would have to be unbelievably convincing before I'd let him schedule again without him paying for the missed session first.
If we need an excuse we can always find one. If you are on point providers know it and one slip up wont matter. If you are constant better keep a back up phone and a back up for your back up.
I keep a phone just for the hobby and only buy minutes for it. I had bought enough minutes for me a year, but I only turn it on when I hobby. Last I checked, I still had over a hundred minutes. But the year expired between turning it on and a day before a date, I had no minutes. Luckily, I was able to reload. Had I waited till the day of, I would have been in a similar situation - phone crapped out and unable to call. A similar situation. Yes strange crap does happen.
I tried having that extra phone but my 'SO' gave me such a hard time that I just threw it away.
One guy told me while he was driving a Rental Car to an appt. and while on the phone his battery died. He left his phone charger in the other car(it was in the shop getting serviced) and had no way of contacting the lady from the hotel lobby.
