Hello! I apologize if this thread is inappropriate/in the wrong section but am genuinely curious.
I am a photographer by trade and have wondered these two questions for a while. It is always interesting coming across a well reviewed provider who has only a few blurry camera phone pictures. I personally think it makes better business sense to have good photos. What is keeping those of you from hiring a professional?
I also wonder about those who have hired professionals. Where are you looking and what is your decision making process? Do you make the photographers aware of the "true" purpose (I guess this would mean you would know them as hobbyists...) for the shoot? I copyright and sometimes will search for my images online. If I was unaware that a model I was shooting was a provider and found his/her images on a provider site I would file a complaint for a DMCA take down.
Purely curious! I know this is a bit more in depth and serious than the other topics but I would appreciate some insight!
If you can't afford a professional photog, at least have a friend with a good camera (digital SLR) shoot some pics of you, then photoshop them on your computer. That's my humble opinion.
I've said the same-thing and that is my prospective as well for most situations.
If you are attempting to market yourself to a more upscale demographic then it would be IMHO a no, no.
But, then what do I know.... {Shoulder Shrug}
Sincerely,
Lee Dreams

How does your agency source its photos? Do you have a go-to guy (it looks like on your website there is a lot of continuity in the current photos so I'm guessing it was done mostly at one time)? When you have new girls come in do you ever consider another photographer? Do you take bids, etc.? Do people e-mail you often? I think it is a bit fascinating.
I've gotten a few PMs and yes I am willing to shoot but would prefer to give details over PM.

Our support services are handled internally by the Fantasys Network, from our own servers to web design.
Photos are done internally, if an associate lasts more than 60 days we'll take them to one of 5 studios (2 we have corporate interest in) we use for additional photos.
As for doing the photos at one time? No they are all done at different times what you are looking at is our propriety background which also matches the colors on the Dreams site. At this time I'm considering having a custom background for DivineCompanions.com made in a new set of colors and a new site to match. This will be decided when the I get back the data from the focus groups on which colors create the emotional response we're going for.
As for your implied expression of interest in doing business, regretfully I must decline. I am very satisfied with my current arrangements.
Sincerely,
Lee Dreams

I use lots of high end photographers
You have to spend money to make money!!
I'm not a lady, but I'll throw this opinion out there.
If the provider has her own website, P411, and posts on the ad boards, I expect at least some of her portfolio to contain professional photos. But one of the telltale signs of a ripoff ad on Eros/Backpage is a girl who has A-list pics on par with Playboy or Vogue, but their rate is $200/hr and there's no email address or website. I'd sooner trust cellphone pics in that scenario, it fits the technology and investment level of the provider.
I always require previous reviews either way, sorry but I won't TOFTT. Cellphone pics have a certain intimacy to them, they tend to be more recent than the professional shoots. Just no duckface poses.
a ploy for you to get some work.
I would tend to think that clients want to see what they're actually going to get. Not some over done photo-shopped bullshit.

I agree - as a photographer I personally hate the overkill that some do with photoshop/airbrushing. I just recommend looking at photographer's portfolios and going with those who really know their lighting!
I agree. I rather see a mediocre pic, and then be surprised to find out that the girl looks hotter in person than the other way around, lol. Professional or not, I hear a lot of hobbyist complaining that so-and-so is actually 5 years older and 15 lbs heavier, etc.
I agree with Farrah! Shouldn't this be posted on one of the Regional Ad Boards? But a great effort to gain business... too bad you used a ploy and were not honest up front; stating that you are seeking business.. not some random: "I apologize if this thread is inappropriate/in the wrong section but am genuinely curious."
Then to add insults, stating: "Purely curious! I know this is a bit more in depth and serious than the other topics but I would appreciate some insight!"
More "in depth and serious" WHAT??? Other topics on the board an not in depth? Not Serious? I guess long discussions about "russian roulette" or "Another BWI bust 7/9/2012 (LE is looking at Ads)" are just discussions of fun and games, no research and just the whim of the poster? Geesh... Wake-up "awakeinnova"
Earning money off prostitutes is pandering. You better know what you're doing, since it is a serious matter. Advertising on the public forum about your intentions for promoting illicit acts isn't smart. Go think, before you act
"I copyright and sometimes will search for my images online. If I was unaware that a model I was shooting was a provider and found his/her images on a provider site I would file a complaint for a DMCA take down."
"I've gotten a few PMs and yes I am willing to shoot but would prefer to give details over PM. Thank you. "
That sounds like you know some of the legal issues.... and I assume this isn't solicitation:
"I totally agree! I would also love to shoot you, I love the ink! "
"When you have new girls come in do you ever consider another photographer? "
I still think your statement that "I definitely did not make this thread with the intent to promote my own personal business." is maybe a little bit of a tad of BS! What do you think?
I know ladies whose non-professional, digital camera (non-cell-phone) photos look better that their professional photos in full make-up. What a waste of $? Not all professional photographers are good.
One who has a good sense of style can take a great photo.
The cost of a decent camera is well within the range of most everyone. All you need to make certain of is that you can get a remote for it.
Use your laptop with a webcam or a mirror if you'd prefer. Set your camera (on a tripod preferably) behind the webcam or mirror. You "frame" your pose in the mirror or webcam and snap the pic, then use software to crop, blur or whatever.
I'm certain that most ladies have the "Down time" and ability to do this. Just involves a little patience.
I research boudoir photographers and look through their work to see how they are in photographing all body types. I am a petite bbw so if the photographers profile is only spinner types, I know they are not for me.
I always tell them I need them for 'commercial use" and ask for their approval before I book. They know going in that it is not for a wedding gift or something along those lines. They just remove their watermark and there has not been a problem.
I hope that helps!
This dude does it for $50, and I'm sure he does a great job... ... . .. ..... . . .
Dude probably wants his dick sucked on for a few photos, but what do I know.
Asking me for a trade for services. Trying to use your camera to get laid is kinda lame
The subject came up b/c I used to do photography for a living for a long time (I have retired from that now to run other business.) She asked my opinion on that and I told her any photographer worth his salt wouldn't solicit like this. So she asked me how to find a good photographer. Well, it's very difficult b/c there are so many imposters out there. We used to have this saying among photographers, "Who is a photographer? Any fool who has a camera." and "Who is a PROFESSIONAL photographer? Anyone whom you are foolish enough to pay." I told her the best way is to ask other providers whose photo she likes.
