There is ample evidence that certain activities that we engage in may lead to addiction. For example, drinking (alcohol) and smoking (nicotine) are just two that can lead to chemical dependence . Recently, the medical profession discovered that rats can become addicted to Oreo cookies (sugar?). However, there are other activities such as gambling,  that are not associated with chemicals but  can result in serious addiction. Is  hobbying an activity that may lead some men to addiction?

So...Probably, yes.

But you can FAP and there are civie girls.... Hobbying is a narrow term and be replaced with other things to bust a nut. However, The thrill of the hobby is probably addictive for some and I don't know an equal replacement for that.

Now carbs/sugar.....ain't no good replacement. I like to partake in the wine and spirits...but I can't go more than 5 days with only 20carbs a day. Carbs are very addictive....especially when sprinkled with salt and fat.

as well as sex addiction and other compulsions (food addiction, etc) ARE chemically associated.....they all trigger dopamine (the chemical in the brain associated with pleasure) rushes, which, for some people, leads to addiction.....

For some people, it certainly is addictive. But you wont find many hobbyists who will admit it or even acknowledge they have a problem.

Back 8 or so years ago I was very close to being addicted. The thrill of the hunt was more addictive for me than the actual sex. I spent a lot of money before I got it under control. I now have maybe 2-3 "adventures" a year.

It's just like anything else........in moderation, no problem

I had hobbied twice a week  and I had gone months without seeing anyone.

I don't hobby just because I want to bust a nut; I can depend on myself for that. I hobby because there's a lady whom I want I see.

So if that ideal lady you saw yesterday (or her twin) is ther next day, you won't see her cause 1) you had her and enough nnewness of her; 2) cause you got this restraint against your urges:). Got it!:)
