I had the same experience once....edited a post I made due to some mispelling and stuff which I attribute to posting under the influence of excellent pinot...like you , I got freaked when it disappeared...when I inquired why I received a perfectly acceptable explanation from the mod...it was something that made sense...wish I could recall and explain it to you...but find myself once again under the influence of a rather tasty vintage. It will pop up soon...don't fret.

STP is correct. It's not you......it's the normal procedures for TER. Even if an unmoderated poster edits their post, it gets pulled for review before the approved edited post is reposted.
It is frustrating because like you say......sometimes there are simple things like spelling that you want to correct.
So relax....it's not a big deal and it's not personal
