Hi, Im arriving next week to DC, and would like to plan on where I'll be eating my dinners while I'm visiting DC. In New York, I dine at restaurants that use local produce or dairy grown on the east coast. Organic is even better but not necessary. I have found that Fine Dining restaurants usually suit me well. I'll do a bit of internet searching myself, hoping to find a few nice restaurants in DC. But it would be a great help to me if you know a few I might like. You are welcome to private message or email me some names, if you think it might not be a good idea to post them on this board. In general, I'm a very healthy person and what I eat is very important to maintaining my best health and good figure. Thankyou so much DC! Love Flora

Ive been on a Chipotle kick lately. Cheap, fast, very fresh and organic.
This is a world renown organoic restaurant. It's not vegan or vegitrarian exclusively. The meat and fish is organic. There is also Asia Nora's featuring fusion. http://www.noras.com/asianora/antext.php
For fine dining, look up The Source, a Wolfgang Puck restaurant in the Newseum on Penns. Ave. Interesting crowd and very nice asian american influenced food. Very much a Puck style place. If you're alone, you will blend in at the bar/longe, where they serve either the bar menu or the full deal. Have fun here.
In addition to Restaurant Nora suggested above, try Obelisk (Italian) near Dupont Circle. Very small, very intimate, only a few options for each course but all very fresh and individually prepared. I recommended it to a friend in your line of endeavor visiting from the West Coast a year or so ago and she loved it. Alas I was not able to take her there but one of you lucky guys did, on my recommendation! You're welcome!
Pennsylavnia Ave. near Foggy Bottom, & their sister restaurant, Farmers & Fishers in the Washington Harbor (not to be confused with National Harbor in MD) complex in Georgetown. The latter had a lot of damage from the river flooding last week and is temporarily closed, but shoud be back in business by next week. Both feature locally sourced ingredients & some organic products as well. And both have good local reputations.
Bus Boys and Poets is AMAZING!!! They have great veg, and vegan healthy options...Lunch, brunch and dinner, allll great
The restaurant in the Doubletree on RhodeIsland is one of DC's best restaurants and the sad thing is I dont think a lot of people know how great it is. Divya and I have been going for years and LOVE it
...in Georgetown. Here are the web sites for both of the them (1789 and Cafe Milano):

http://www.cafemilano.net/
1789 is a little pricey, but the food, service, and ambience are superb, IMHO, and the portions served are the right size, more like what you would receive in some of the European countries. 1789 is about a block east of Georgetown University and provides complimentary valet parking. Cafe Milano, as you would suspect from the name of the restaurant, offers Italian cuisine. It is near Wisconsin Avenue, off of M Street. Again, the food, wine, and service are excellent, IMO.
Good luck and bon appétit!
?1) Makoto/Japanese McArthur Blvd Palisades DC. Get the 10 course tasting Menu.
2) Assagi/Italian Bethesda MD. Get the Roasted Veal Chop that is not on the menu and the formaggio sampler app.
3) Kellari/ Greek Farragut West DC. Pick the Medeterannian Sea Bass and the Giant Prawns off the display.
4) Fogo De Chao/Brazilian Federal Triangle DC. Dont always have the green side up. That is called gluttony. Exellent quality meats for an all you can eat.
5) Charlie Palmer/Steakhouse Judiciary Sq DC. Get a side of chimichurri and the handcut fries with your steak.
6) Cantlers/Seafood Annapolis. Just get the Rockfish and Crabs. Enjoy them while the bay still produces them.
7) Peking Gourmet Inn/ Chinese Bailey's Crosroads VA. The best Peking Duck I have ever tasted .
8) Bonefish Grill/ Dulles area. My favorite chain restaurant.
More suggestions send me a PM.

Also in Old Town is the Fish Market. The fish is very good, although I don't know about whether or not it is organic. I know a lot of their fish is freshly caught, so you can't get much more organic than that.
BTW, welcome to our city!
Went off to one of my favorite NYC restaurants. Oh YUM! I had a delightful meal with plenty of salad and veggies. And a delicious spring pea soup. Managed to drink 2 liters of water with the meal. Makes such a big difference in one's health to eat lots of fresh and locally grown veggies and plenty of water. If anyone wants to find out how much water they should be drinking you can do a little quiz for yourself at http://nutrition.about.com/library/blwatercalculator.htm
Can I just say that I find the DC board to be so friendly and a very happy place to be. I am impressed how you are so helpful and welcoming to me. While we all have different lifestyles, it just seems like people here are open-minded and share in the hope for everyone's well-being. I'm very excited to visit and meet some of you in person. I really appreciate all your wonderful advice and glad to know you're looking out for your personal health also. Be sure to check out how much water you need to be drinking everyday! I've seen such a big difference in my energy level and my skin has gotten so much more softer then ever before.
Big Kiss DC! And of course, Eat, Drink & Be VERY MERRY
I would recommend Rosa Mexicana, an upscale Mexican restaurant, with pomegranate margaritas and guacamole made at the table. It is more like the food of the mexican upperclass, with incredible sauces and preparations, not really taco and burrito peasant food. Stellar, and close to the Spy Museum. Enjoy!
