Is it normal
To have to give a deposit? Touring VIP said they require it now.
New to me
Thanks

Some ladies require one and some don't. Where have you been?

Nothing new at all for me, but I am an OG trend setter. I’ve only had to refund deposits once last year I suffered a concussion from a car accident. Caca happens.  I have integrity. All providers are not created equally.

Different escorts have different requirements, both for booking and for screening. An I suspect other things I am not even thinking about now. Perhaps something like covered versus BB.

If that's what they ask decide if you want to pay or not. I would suggest doing a simple search on the boards about this (here and on the GB) to get a sense of all the pros and cons (mostly obvious) and also check reviews and with the reviewers about them.

I have always required a 50% deposit when touring and now that I live out of the country, that applies to every single date I accept. There's a segment of men who will never inquire with me as this is well known and not within their comfort zone, and there's a segment of men for whom it's just a small (financial) thing to risk for a (relatively) known reward. 🤷🏻‍♀️
.
Rather than questioning the practice itself, maybe question the research you've done on the lady you're inquiring with and your own reasons for balking.  No one can speak to what makes you feel comfortable better than yourself.

Every provider has their own way of screening, booking, and handling deposits — and mine exists for a reason.
After too many no-shows and last-minute cancellations, I simply don’t see anyone without a deposit.
My time, energy, and resources aren’t free. I’m not booking hotels, getting ready, driving through traffic, paying tolls, or burning gas for someone who doesn’t bother to show up.
It’s not personal — it’s business, and it’s about respect.

Why waste time and energy navigating the chaos of dating/service when you can skip the drama and find women with proven track records on TER? The choices are endless, the reviews are real, and the experience is far less stressful. Think about it — you wouldn’t dine at a restaurant where you’re unsure if the meal is safe, so why take unnecessary risks when it comes to your time, money and peace of mind?

Do t be naive. Not all reviews are real. Plenty of fakes out there.

maxsky said it best, "Not every provider that asks for a deposit is a scam, but every scammer asks for a deposit.  The only way to not get burned is to avoid deposits.  Cash in person is the only sure way."

I require a deposit of 20%, and all of my friends require some sort of deposit as well. Otherwise, we run the risk of losing time and money for travel + incall costs.

Not everyone wants reviews that doesn’t mean they’re not real.
At least read older reviews and chat with the lady, the way someone writes says a lot about a person .
Deposit or not, everyone got their rules

If a deposit is required, I immediately pass. It's the same with any requirement for an ID or personally identifying information. It's simply not worth the risk.

This is an endless debate (and kinda fruitless exchange) and will remain so since there is consensus answer or hard data to support the deposit vs. no deposit position.  For example, does the deposit policy lead to a reduction of 5%, 10% or even 20% of what might be excellent clients since they are turned off by deposits.  Who the fuck knows?  What percentage of providers who don't have deposit policy have cancellations or no-showa.  The provider who has a no-deposit policy and switches to deposits due to frustration/anger with cancellations/no-shows might very well end up being in worst shape from a business standpoint even though they have no clue if this is the case.  And the monger who refuses to see a provider due to a deposit policy might be missing out on fantastic experience, which, of course, they will never know.
