Never seen so many in the same place at the same time!

The other day I had a day tour in Williamsburg Va. I had made reservations at a nice hotel and took the train down there. Sometimes I like to train it so I don't have to deal with traffic and I can just relax. When I arrived at the station I  hopped into a cab and the cab pulls up to my hotel.

I notice as soon as I pull into the parking lot I see two marked police SUVs parked out front and a cop standing out front talking on his cell. My heart fluttered right then and there. As it was time to pay the cabbie I then took a better look around and noticed that every single parking space was occupied by the exact same type of police vehicle. I asked what's going on here a conference? The cab driver said they had been at the hotel all week. Mind you it was only Tuesday so they have been there since Monday, Sunday maybe?

Well I was like um hell no I am not staying here. I went to a different hotel and had a nice visit with my "friends" in Williamsburg Va. ;-) But that sure freaked me out a bit!

It must of been a conference because the convention center was nearby and if they were doing stings or set ups they certainly wouldn't be so out in the open as they were. I have never seen so many police cars in one place at the same time!! Years ago I had checked into my hotel and I ha a 6PM appointment. The client came up and said there were a ton of cops down in the lobby. Turned out they were holding some meeting there in one of the hotels conference rooms. That freaked me out too!

Anyone ever been in a similar situation?

 Sincerely, Sidney Starr!

Because last year the Virginia association of chiefs of police conference was in Williamsburg.  This year it was in Staunton. Maybe they came to see you lol. I can't find anything on web for this week.  Thanks for the tip warning.

It must of been a work thing or something like that. Because it was way too obvious that if ANY provider pulled up at that hotel I would be surprised if she still kept her reservation.

Lol and definitely not for me. I had made my reservation just an hour before arriving. Lol funny.

...... there was some kind of LE convention or something going on in the area.
Every hotel in the Crystal City area was crawling with them. THAT was scary lol.

Last year I stayed in Crystal City.  They were having some sort of annual Memorial convention and parade.  There were  cars from all over.  I just googled the subject...The 2014 VACP Midyear Conference, held March 10-11.

the DC area will be host to literally thousands of LE from around the country (the web site says between 25K & 40K).  I've seen a day when there were literally hundreds of police motorcycles in DC.  the focus is the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial which is at 4th & E streets NW.  If you're here that week you'll see hundreds of police officers wherever you go; I was on a Metro train coming into the city last year and there were about 40 officers (all wearing their different uniforms from around the country) on the train.  So for that week, if you stay in a hotel anywhere in the DC area there WILL be cops all over.  I don't think they have jurisdiction to make any arrests of anything but they do change the atmosphere, and IO doubt they'd be shy about notifying the locals if they see anything amiss.

So I understand how Sidney felt. I had an experience with my ATF years ago in the Fairfax area. We were having a nice quiet afternoon lunch in the lobby bar and all of a sudden here comes a ton of uniformed officers swarming all over the hotel lobby. They took no notice of us, and seemed to be focused on the elevators, which were across the lobby. We decided to stay in the lobby and look as innocent as possible. I recall she said "Oh great, my favorite people!" when she saw them. After a short while everything died down and we parted ways. Apparently whoever or whatever they were looking for was not there.

Yeah, I had an appointment with Charlotte Breeze last Nov., pulled up to the hotel in Richmond, and there were cops all over the place...considered cancelling, but called her assistant, evidently, they had been there all week as well...a series of meetings that week.  Freaked me out...

On another note, around 2008 in Woodbridge, I had an appointment, after we met, all of a sudden there was a huge thing out in the parking lot...tons of cops.  Turned out a guy had been found dead of a heart attack in a car in the parking lot of the neighboring strip mall.

BTW, are you in the Richmond area often?  I saw you a few times in Nova with Stevie Thunder a couple years ago, but I'm in the Richmond area now...
