Need some suggestions....

I have a friend who knows I used to spend a lot of time in DC and asked me for recommendations for a vegan restaurant--or at least a place that has a decent vegan selection.  Trouble is I don't know any and would prefer not to appear ignorant.

Anyone able to recommend some?

Thanks.

if you say that "Sorry, hun, I don't know, and don't want to mislead you." Plenty of resources where you can research all kinds of restaurants.  Next thing you know, she is asking you about brain surgery, and you come here with tail between your legs, asking us how to perform one.. We don't know Sparky....

Is this what DC board is devolving to.? We helping you find a vegan restaurant for your gal pals..? Dude, this is a fuck board. I mean Seriously? I remember at one point this board had heated, lively debates going on variety of topics. It was a mini GD board. Sadly, it has quickly devolved into a ISO board in last couple of yrs

...that would chase even more people away from here.  He is relatively harmless, but does feel the need to vocalize what everyone else should believe.  He has some things worth listening to, and the other posts of his I often chuckle at and give them the thought they deserve.

The nature of this board inherently is a mix of serious discussion, teen-aged locker room humor, and lighter water cooler talk.  The existence of threads like this one does not drive away serious discussion as he implies; a dearth of serious discussions repels new serious discussions.  But it is easier to toss some pebbles (those weren't rocks) than to start a serious discussion thread.

It's all good.  I got several PMs with some good suggestions, and I got a PM with an even nicer surprise

but this is a real life friend and I tend to feel obliged to help when a friend asks for help.  Even with seemingly small things.

Of course there are resources out there, but in the past I have found that people on here have often given me good recommendations for things like this, so I pulsed the board again.  I didn't hold a gun to anyone's head and force them to reply.

And unless the debate topic is DC-related, why would a good debate topic be posted here instead of the GD board?  You'll probably get more interesting replies opening it up to the wider audience, no?  Regional boards on any similar site (not only escort related) tend to be more laid back and more personal.  At least all the ones I belong to/moderate.

the moderator would never allow this kind of post to see the light of the day. I learned great deal from old moderators like Fugly and Funtimes61 (R.I.P) Now, since that model was discontinued we all can be board police in our own little way...The only downside of being board police, which is a downside of life in general, is that when you open your pie hole, you are at the risk of appearing stupid or uninformed.

The only downside of the moderator job was that moderators weren't allowed to submit reviews, which is something I enjoy doing as much as sex itself.

and there are some positives in the new one.

I don't make the rules, but I try to use them to my best advantage.  I am not sure the old ways were inherently better or worse.

PS:  Personally, while I do not always agree with your POV, I do think on balance your unofficial Neighborhood Watch role has been done well.  I think you have done more good than harm, though a number of newbies have been lost.

because they force you out of your comfort zone to debate and articulate your ideas. At the same time, there is opportunity/challenge to influence them. lol.. People who agree with you all the time....Boring..

While I am not a big fan of unnecessary rules and bureaucracy, I believe in some sort of structure. In the old days, one or two moderators moderating the board allowed just that. It provided an environment for a good, robust dialogue.  Just imagine 5 guys like me being neighborhood watchmen. Chaos would ensue.  Right now, you don't see that because there doesn't seem much interest left amongst fellow hobbyists and providers to engage in any sort of discussion.

The old model was clearly superior. IMHO.

Elizabeth's is only open for a 3-hr dinner service on Fridays, btw. I have a couple of friends who used to work there. Their talent doesn't stick around for long mainly because of the business model.

If you're looking for something more casual, Cochran Gallery's Sunday Brunch (also a 3-hr window) is also vegan. I believe the Chef in charge also runs Equinox, but I don't know if they offer vegan or just vegetarian.

Restaurant Nora in Dupont Circle  -- I think that's supposed to be one of the best.
