Pics first and foremost.

Now for the advice...Two questions...for now....?

1)  When do you think I should come out?  I don't do the cold very well and I haven't seen snow in such a long time and I don't know if my old bones could handle your type of cold.  So should I plan a trip in the early part of spring (which is what for you guys) or wait until the early summer?  Help....!

2)  Where is a girl to stay?  I've had requests to stay across the river (???) and then I've had mention the Nova area...which means?  I have no idea...:P

Thanks everyone for your imput.

First and foremost, great pics!!!  I'm definitely interested!

Time of your visit - Early spring around here is April.  Unfortunately, April is also the time that all the cherry blossoms start coming out, and it is hard to get hotel rooms because of all of the cherry blossom tourists.  May might be better.

Location - I think "across the river" refers to Washington DC proper.  Rooms in DC can be expensive.  Also parking can be a challenge.  If you opt to get a room in DC, I'd suggest you find a hotel that is near a Metro station (Metro is our subway system).  You can check metroopensdoors.com for locations of Metro stations.  The Northwest section of DC is probably where you would want to stay.

NoVa is Northern Virginia, the Virginia suburbs of DC, south and west of DC (Arlington, Alexandria, Fairfax, Falls Church, Springfield to name a few).  A lot of providers choose NoVa because the rooms are cheaper and parking is more readily available than inside DC.  A lot of providers also go to the Maryland suburbs of Rockville, Bethesda, or Silver Spring (northwest and north of DC).

I can't give you good specifics on which hotels are good/bad.  Hopefully one of our frequent visiting providers can PM you with that info.

Looking forward to seeing you!  Can you bring some beignets?  ;)

...so much for the info.  I appreciate you taking the time to share this information with me.  I've been to DC once in my life (high school field trip) and that was a long, long time ago.  All I really remember about the trip was that we (10 of us in a room) got caught with some alcohol by our guardians and the rest of the trip after that was no fun.  I got in so much trouble with parents once we returned.

I'm glad you enjoyed the pics.  I'm getting better looking with age...wink.
