In the midst of the hobby, what is the longest you have gone without? And if you wait a while, for whatever reason, what kind of woman and session do you desire after your dry spell?
Some of you have a lot of pent up desire and this is probably one of our best experiences while others seem to have lost their confidence and require a warm up session before they get back into it. Personally I enjoy the anticipation sometimes, but I am curious about your experience with this. So when you have a lapse and finally return, how do you like to play or does it just play out on you?

I agree- $300-$500 isn't chump change, but u prefer higher end providers- I've forgotten all about some BP girls by the time I get to my car
I hobby on a very limited budget, so pretty much every time is after a dry spell. But either way, my preferences don't change much. I still prefer to spend longer quality time with a mature woman that knows how to manipulate my most sensitive sex organ....my mind! There are the myriad little things that a WOMAN knows and does that a girl doesn't. Basically I like to play longer and spend time exploring each other. I don't "let it happen to me", but try to "let the experience wash over both of us".

Carly indeed wrote that, as she is an accomplished songwriter. It reportedly was about her relationship with Cat Stevens (well before he became a Muslim). Heinz, which marketed its ketchup based on its thickness and slowness to come out of the long necked bottles (before wide-mouth or squeeze bottles were on the market), picked it up a number of years later.
Makes sense. I know those glass ketchup bottles can take forever. It's annoying, especially when you have a nice fresh order of fries just waiting to be dipped.

The longest I have ever gone is 4 months. Usually, the type of girl I would go for is a submissive type because I would have lots of built up sexual energy. For me it is hit and miss from this point on. You see, I get performance anxiety and sometimes it kills my wood (since PA is psychological, I do not take pills) . If the girl was cool, gave a genuine effort and I still enjoyed her company, then I normally book another appt with her. I would venture to say that 95% of the time the second session turns out as a 9 or higher, opening the door for longer sessions and overnights. So there is some truth in your observation that some of us may require a warm up session.
Yes, I have come across the warm up session senario on several occasions and it almost always leads to a high intensity repeat visit.

Once a month is my usual time frame. Doing my homework and limit the ladies (2 or 3) with 9 & 10 reviews that know what you like and are willing to "play the role". Since I'm not a hobbyist let me be presumptuous and modify your premise.
I shall confess and probably serious diminish my street cred, however I seriously can't remember how long it's been. I think about a year maybe longer? I don't audition associates and I don't use my own product, forgive the vice terminology of the latter. I have this slight quirk, which is my sex has to be real; even if it's just a one night stand, the lust has to be sincere.
Of course this gets into the whole being in this business and trying to have a relationship. Basically my choices are date my own Associates or date independents. Dating Civilian women can be rather problematic. Then there is the issue which everyone else faces is finding the right women to build something meaningful and light the world on fire. This year my parents will be celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary. Not only do they still love each other, they still like each other, seriously, they hold hands walking down the street.
How would I like this to play out. Easy, find a woman who revs my engine, mentally, physically, spiritually and emotionally who is not only what I want but what I need. No, I don't ask for much do I ?
However, I'll be wise and accept what I 'need' in lew of what I 'want'.
After all, getting all of what you want in life is the basis of an old Chinese curse.

You bring up a lot of good points about the women in our lives. I can only offer the wisdom of my counselor:
Part of the reason monogamous relationships are so hard is that we expect our mate to fulfill a lot of different roles; wife, mother, business partner, friend, lover, sounding board, workout partner, etc.... To expect one person to fill all those roles, and do them all well, is unrealistic.
So we all determine for ourselves what we NEED our mate to be and the rest we either do without or find in other relationships. I think many of the married guys in the hobby have an otherwise good marriage, but they are missing one or several key components in their primary relationship (for most probably sex). It is socially acceptable to find many of the "missing" parts outside of your primary relationship (workout with a female trainer, go skydiving with the guys, hire a nanny, etc...). But in the U.S. seeking sex outside of that is (in the main) considered taboo.

Not counting an out-of-town GF (former provider) who visits every so often, I would say six months or so.
I am mostly interested in repeat visits to favorite ladies that I have seen many times. Often they are UTR or semi-retired, and dates are set up well in advance. If they or my GF aren't available, I can wait.
If I am traveling and bored, especially where it is legal or all-but-legal, I have sometimes indulged. However, I am doing this less and less, and I haven't seen someone when out of the country for more than three years.

What am I looking for after said dry spell, a quickie paired with a long-term "partner" provider. Something to take the edge off, so some young thing that has a good personality, pretty (I usually go for white, blonde, 5'5" thin to athletic type and young) for this purpose. Think of Chelsea that has been reviewed a lot. Not GFE, but something to get my rocks off quickly and pretty to look at. I then go in search of a provider that has been good to me, not a clock watcher, GFE, and just pleasant to be around with good intelligent conversation that can create the illusion of a girlfriend I haven't seen for awhile. This usually means a provider in her late twenties early thirties that is more mature. What usually fits the bill is a woman like Shelly who I've seen more times than I can count.

No. There were mulitiple reasons- which wont happen again- that caused it.
If you were asking specifically about seeing escorts, yes. I don't consider this a hobby so I don't partake as frequently as most people with a hobby do.

I'm a SWM in my early 60s and I still enjoy a body-shaking release once or twice a week - the longest in recent memory is - say 6 weeks.
When I'm feeling really horny - I begin my search - 1st here in TER - usually by rating and value, I have my own chart. Like most experienced Hobbyists - I know the relative price scale of what 8s charge and 9s and 10s.
I also, like the challenge of seeking out new and fresh talent on some other boards and chatting them up on the phone - in an effort to negotiate what I what - not just in price but more in area of performance, usually focused on their limits.
