I saw Pretty Woman about 20 years ago when it first came out, but just watched it again this past weekend. The high-rolling Richard Gere ponied up a whopping $3,000 for a week of Julia Roberts time. Their initial negotiation was an equally outrageous $100 for an hour ... Ah, those were the days!!  Of course, back then $50,000 was a respectable professional salary and $100,000 was teetering on executive.

You certainly don't see Julia Roberts looking ladies walking the streets.

What was his character's name - Stewy or Stucky???  Well, whatever it was he couldn't close that deal...

The original script was really dark and supposed to be about drug addiction. The end of the movie had the actor pushing the hooker out of his car and driving off. Once Garry Marshall got his hand on it and it went to Disney, it became the story we know and love today. Great movie!! Totally unrealistic but great movie.

There was recently a reunion with all the actors on one of those morning talk shows and it was mentioned what it was originally to be. Julia Roberts had the job and then when Gary Marshall signed on she had lost the part for about a day, and was rehired. She actually asked Richard Gere to please do the movie when Marshall had them meet.  

  They also said they all agreed to only do a sequel if everyone from the original would be in it but a sequel was never in the works.  

  Yes you can clean anyone up I agree. I made the comment sort of tongue in cheek. Julia Roberts was 20 years old when she filmed Pretty Woman, she was a fresh faced beautiful young woman. Fresh faced, not up late drinking or drugging, just making movies. Many girls on the streets do not look like Julia Roberts did back then.  Walking the streets is a hard life, full of stress and dangers and unknowns and it wears on the faces of those in that life.  Sadly as most of us know, many girl waking the streets are supporting drug habits as well. But yes take them off the street, clean them up and dress them up and they can look like a shiny new diamond. As any of us can.

Pretty Woman was a street walker, not some high rollin escort lol. I see on Cops and the HBO specials, all the time street walkers that will do everything for 20 bucks, even 10.So for the SW that is happy to get 20 bucks, 3000 a week today would blow their mind.

I have moments where being a SW sounds more profitable given they do not have this board to answer to if they have a bad day and screw everything up. I just spent 700 dollars to travel to a single client and I accidentally napped through the date because I couldn't sleep the night before because of my dogs. He was supposed to be what made me get through this week financially but of course I screwed it up. Staying at home paying a range of 50-100 for less than an hour of my time as a SW sounds like the best deal to make up for my accident this week lol. Sounds super discouraging but UGH!! I am tired of waiting and seeing my bills increase lol. Touring has proven to be no profit and nothing for me so who knows anymore lol. I see many busy SW's down my street. This is one of those days I feel more inclined to do the dirty deed though. I dunno, sounds like a good deal given the fact I have close to zero clients anymore...tired of it.
