.....that is the only way to describe using not having a secret and separate phone (and email, etc.) for hobbying - they are too easy to acquire and maintain - with no paper trail!!! Go to Wal-mart and get a straight talk phone ($35 a month - pay cash for the phone and minutes ever month - you can't be traced! Keep it hidden (of, course).
Otherwise, sheer lunacy!!!
Excuse my rant but I've got to get something off my chest. What the hell are providers thinking when they are sending random text messages to previous customers?? I've been participating in this hobby for almost 6 yrs & I had never received a random, unsolicited text or call from a provider I had previously seen. Apparently all those women had common sense & suddenly there's an abundance of providers that have absolutely zero common sense. Over the past 5 months (and again this morning) I've had 5 or 6 different providers call me or send me just random texts out of the blue to let me know they're available & back in town. I even had one text me on Xmas day to wish me a Merry Xmas that of course my fucking wife happened to see! What the hell are you women thinking sending us texts without US soliciting YOU first? Thank god out of the half dozen times these women have contacted me my wife has only seen the one on Xmas day. Granted it's not the best idea for me to use my personal cell phone, but wife is nosey as hell & if I had another cell phone she'd find it sure as shit & then i'd have to deal with that headache. Ladies, unless you've specifically been told that its okay for you to text or call us at that # without us contacting you first PLEASE use your head before you send a text or call him & think about what the consequences might be. It could very well lead to the first step in destroying someone's marriage. If we want to make an appointment with you, believe me we will seek you out to arrange something.
Do you share a bill or plan with your wife?
What happens when she decides to Google a few phone numbers to get an idea of your activities?
If you're married using your primary personal contract phone for this business is easily one of the most avoidable mistakes.
Tracfones are $9.99 at any grocery store or pharmacy. Hide it in your desk at work, the spare tire well in your vehicle etc.
The reason providers text advertise is because some clients like it. Personally, I don't have saved numbers in any phone and I tend to replace my phone annually. However, I do text clients who text me and ask me to notify them of when I'm available in their neighborhood- seriously, a lot of clients (particularly single guys and those with really 'long leashes') like the convenience of being privately notified of availability. Providers take these cues and apply them with broad brush strokes to everyone.
I know the lack of discretion is frustrating but it will not stop- its best to anticipate that your number may be used when you least expect it and plan accordingly- get a dedicated hobby phone!
You mean all those times providers tried to tell me they don't keep any personal information ......THEY WERE LYING?
Oh the humanity!
sent you a pm, but get a trak phone. 10 bucks. 60 minutes, 3-months. hide it or toss it after you make your appointment. well worth the xtra cost. risk using personal NOT worth it. I speak from experience.
You know, you revealed so much more in that post about yourself than I bet you can even fathom. You should probably edit the title to read, "Use your head PLEASE...so I don't have to use mine!". I can agree with the text message thing. Personally I hate them from anyone and have them completely blocked from my phone. And that was thanks to a very popular local companion that's a regular on this board texting me her schedule at 3AM after I saw her just once, and didn't really plan on seeing again for what it's worth. Beyond agreeing with that one part of your post, I have to say you come across like Charlie Sheen. You're innocent and do no wrong, huh? Did you actually read what you wrote here? " Ladies, unless you've specifically been told that its okay for you to text or call us at that # without us contacting you first PLEASE use your head before you send a text or call him & think about what the consequences might be. It could very well lead to the first step in destroying someone's marriage." Wouldn't the first step in destroying your marriage be cheating on your wife? I think so, yet you seem to find it perfectly logical to blame "the other woman" when you fail to cover your tracks. You referred to your wife as, "my fucking wife", and adding that to the fact that you've been cheating on her for 6 years doesn't exactly sound like someone concerned with their marriage being destroyed. The truth is, your marriage is already beyond destroyed. Somehow your poor wife just hasn't figured it out yet. The truth is you're a major hypocrite. You can sit there and post about the abundance of women you've seen that have texted you without your consent having no common sense yet when you mention you've been using your personal cell phone to arrange all the sneaking around behind your wife's back you're not nearly so harsh on yourself! Charlie, you are so far from innocent. You're living a life of lies and deceit. I wonder how guys like you get away with the things they get away with as long as they sometimes do. It's very easy for me to imagine your world completely falling apart very soon. Honestly, if your world were to fall apart, can you look in the mirror and really say you deserve any less? Man up and own your faults. None of us are perfect. It's OK not to be perfect. But it's not OK to point the finger at someone else and blame others for the things you have 100% ownership in. That's pathetic. And right now I can only think of one person that needs to start using their head.
I couldn't agree with more with you, what a hypocrite your marriage is already crumbling won't be long until your fucking wife finds out you are a dumbass!!!
I am not used to call my clients
for that very reason, just call those my personal phone is and we're friends outside the business

It never stops to amaze me how easily we kill such simple concept as ACCOUNTABILITY FOR OUR OWN ACTIONS.
The OP been fucking around for 6 years, but its dumb providers who are destroying his marriage.

You can program your phone to only ring from your google voice # at certain times, tell it when to allow text through...or just arbitrarily turn the forwarding on and off entirely...
All outgoing calls are to the Google voice number...then their switches pass your call through to the intended target.
Perhaps spend less time on BP and the City Paper and more time here with the upper echelon of providers!

A question: how do you reconcile a throw away phone with phone number-based screening? I always figured it was a major disincentive to purchasing these phones.
Google voice does seem to solve the issue, but I'm wondering about other solutions.

If I buy a trac phone, I have to activate it with a computer. So that is problem one.
Number two is that providers I've seen require me to contact them from a personal phone. For their safety, of course.
Can anyone help with advice, please.
1. Need a computer to activate - get a library card
2. Provider insecurity - invest in VIP membership (and/or RS2K) - then billed a base of reviews. Each of these steps will put you in good stead with quality, established providers.
My business requires calls to and from clients day and night. have a good number that find texting works better for them. Now, when home I turn off the ringer and also the vibration. When I find I am alone for a couple of minutes, I see what calls are posted for me. If I forget to turn it off, I send it to voice mail and indicate it's work related and I will return it the next day. So far so good.
