A gentleman calls me the other day and says "I would love to see you. I am in Springfield, are you nearby?" I was in Alexandria, so I said yes. Blah, Blah, References Checked, Blah.
The next day he calls to confirm and for exact directions. I am explaining to him where I am and he seems confused. I asked him where he was coming from...after a few minutes I realized he was in Springfield, Illinois. Gee Wilikers LOL
So I guess from now on I have to ask for city and state.
Pascual Gross Perez (nicknamed "I-285"). He earned his nickname after missing a start on August 19, 1982 while circling Atlanta's Interstate 285 looking for Atlanta-Fulton County Stadium for his baseball start (1st time) with the baseball team.
He was nicknamed I285-That's the number of the highway that brought Perez trouble in his first appearance with the Braves. Called up from the minors, he was supposed to make his first start on Aug. 19, 1982, but he got lost trying to get to the ball park. Perez drove around I-285 (which is similar to the Washington or Baltimore Beltway), a highway that encircles Atlanta, three times, always missing the correct exit. Then he ran out of gas and had to borrow $10 from a service-station attendant to get more, and finally he got to the stadium in the second inning.
