I'm planning on visiting sometime in the near future and was wondering if someone can advise on good hotels for IC.

Tysons Corner (Northern Virginia) is easy parking for the most part, crowded, and lively.  Avoid Rosslyn and Ballston.

In DC, Dupont is most common; avoid Georgetown (traffic, expense, small hotels!) and Capitol Hill (similar).
