legal question (sort of)

My question is this?  Escorting is legal right (I mean the true definition of escorting a man to a function or whatever).  So you hire an escort to go to the company holiday party.  The two of you actually hit it off and end up having sex that night.  Was it legal?  At what point did the escorting stop?  What I'm getting at is this.  If you hire an escort over the phone and never actually mention sex (should never mention sex anyways LOL).  You meet this escort for the aggreed upon time, what is illegal about meeting them?  How can LE arrest you for meeting an escort since no sexual activities where ever discussed.  Isn't it possible to meet an escort just to spend time with her, the two of you hit it off and have sex?  of course it is.  So how am I breaking the law by meeting with an escort?  Sorry to ramble on but I honestly am confused by this.  What do you think?

The question is what did you pay for?  Paying for sex is illegal most places.  So the following questions might be relevant:

Did you do research to find out what that escort might offer with one of her dates?  Did you ever post questions about the escort asking about services? Did you actually take her to the party?  (You must not be married to take her to the company party, LOL) How did you find out about the escort's availability?  Did you pay her before the date or only once you were at the bedroom?

I'm no criminal lawyer, but my guess is that taking the lady to some public function is better for the legal angle than meeting her in a hotel room or some other private location when you go nowhere else.  But then you gotta pay the hourly rate for a couple hours of cocktail chit-chat in addition to what you really want.
