She just completed her first-ever marathon today!

Awesome...

recognition of this very nice provider's accomplishment go by?  Do you have some urge to have everything conform to your world view?  This lady does something most of us can't even imagine doing & all you can do is piss on it?  I have no idea what your problem is with this minor recognition of a significant accomplishment, but it comes across as small and petty.  I thought you might be better than that, guess I'll re-think that.

Here are the TER guidelines.. I don't make rules.. I just follow them..

I am not a big proponent of rules and regulations, but I believe what limited rules we have, we need to adhere to..  What was the need of a public post.. He could have just as easily sent her email/pm appreciating her accomplishment.

I am not a negative person, as I am made out to be on these boards.. I also don't like to give special treatment to anyone...

Read the guidelines and try to understand them before you call me out, and if you are a fair person, you may re-think whom to call out..

SHILL THREADS

A Shill Thread is a thread that is started with a post that is praise, thanks, or a recommendation for a certain provider for reasons of self-interest, personal benefit, or out of friendship or loyalty. Starting a new thread with a Shill Post is not allowed by TER because such threads are considered extra "advertising" above & beyond what each provider is allowed each week.

Shill Threads are not allowed, and will be removed.

Mini-Reviews posted according to the Posting Guidelines are not considered to be Shill Posts.

Responses to a current thread that refers to a provider with positive comments about that provider is okay, as long as the comment is pertinent to the topic at hand.

"A Shill Thread is a thread that is started with a post that is praise, thanks, or a recommendation for a certain provider for reasons of self-interest, personal benefit, or out of friendship or loyalty."

What personal benefit or self-interest is demonstrated here?  Does a comment like that actually increase anyone’s business?  Not likely I would think.

If you stretch the “friendship or loyalty” part to an extreme then mentioning anyone in other than a negative way can be construed as a shill post.  Which, actually, you often do.

I don't see anything prohibiting making a post that praises someone's accomplishment that is clearly separate from her line of work here.

You say you are not a negative person.  That would be very difficult to tell from the predominance of your posts.  Quit acting like the self-anointed board cop and maybe people will stop having negative reactions to you.  Just a thought

What makes you think it doesn't. How can you really prove that it doesn't increase someone's business. The ladies get enough opportunities to advertise themselves. They got the AD board. They got the photo board. Before the photo board they had theme days.. There is even a legit "Shameless Shill Day" (Friday) where you can legally shill for someone

Why do we need this? Imagine me and hundred different hobbyists doing it for just one gal everyday. The whole board will be cluttered with shill posts...

Try removing your head out of your own ass so you can think with some clarity.

It comes down to a word you just don't seem to want to accept:  JUDGMENT

It I take your position only a LITTLE farther, then ANY mention of ANY lady on here MIGHT cause someone to check her out and MIGHT wind up with them seeing each other.  And if that happens just once, well, the world will end!  Won't it?

Get real:  every post by a provider, or any post that mentions one, can be streeeeeetched into your definition of a shill post.

Judgment and moderation (not as in Mods) are good things.  I have to work with a few folks who are as black & white as you seem on here, and at times it is painful.

I don't pull punches, I rarely use people skills. I call it as I see it.

I can totally understand mentioning a provider's name in the passing.. Or even responding to some other post with an example of another provider. That's valid by TER rules. But to originate a post with a provider's praise, is nothing other than a shill..

I urge you to put it to vote on Newbie board or RO board (if you are a member), and if you win, I will issue a public apology, and if you lose you should issue one also.

The issue we are discussing here is whether this post was shill or not..

There are certain areas which are gray, and certain that are black and white. This happens to be the latter.

I gave him a little grief in jest on the GD board.

The only thing with this post, I now know Lea participated in a marathon.

My question is Should I or any one else be privy to this information? (is this being discrete?)

And even if she didn't a lot of guys and gals will get the perception that she did.

People don't realize what damage they do to gals by shilling..

I've never participated in a marathon. I've always assumed one had to register to compete.

...I have completed a half, and that was not easy!

Hugs and Kisses,
Kelly

Pretty cool. I found it interesting since I am training for one myself. ;-)
