It was great when Indies would take TER handles as references, but most don't anymore (need 2 indie references + TER handle to know what your writing about them).
When I see a lady (Agency or Indie), I personally don't like to give my TER handle anyways. Call me old fashioned, but I don't want affect the session.
I think this type of thread has been constantly rehashed, but I'll keep giving my answer. I prefer agencies and I have a few reasons.
First, I only have to be verified once and I can then see various ladies within the agency without having to be verified again.
Second, it is hard to get verified by Indies nowadays because they mostly taking references from other Indies. From that, you have to worry about the Indies that you have seen are not retired, feeling guilty asking for a reference when you have not seen them in a while, or trying to get your Indie references to remember you.
Third, I just hate giving out my information constantly.
I am tempted to use more indies because the ladies here have been offering up alot of specials. But it is the chicken & the egg thing with references. Last Indy I was in Vegas and that was in January (but I know that I can jog her memory if I asked her for references as a special event happened in her life and I was there; I'll probably see her again too).
Agencies are just soooo much easier. There are a lot of Indies i would love to see, but as stated above they will not accept agency ref's or anything else other then another Indy ref.... Seems to be just a monster catch 22... it becomes exhausting at times even trying to get verified, so much so that i have all but decided to just pass on indy all together. (hopefully, at some point i will try again and prove victorious!!!).
The price vs. quality of the agency providers in the area is also outstanding.
Also the rate in which the local agencies seem to bring in new talent is head spinning. by the time i make up my mind as to which lady i would like to see, there are three new one's!!!
do the initial referals. I was lucky in the quality I got first time at bat. But even if you have to "settle for less", there certainly are indies that will help a guy start down the path. Agencies are fine for you or others, but I don't think "Indy Hobbying" is a Catch 22 at all.
Also, I've never been canceled by an agency girl but have been canceled within hours and sometimes after showing up at the indie incall at least 5 times in the last 2 years.
So, for me, the agency girls are more reliable and I have never been rushed by an agency girl but have been pushed out the door by several indies.
Agencies are easier for newbs as far as screening goes. (p411, date-check, etc)
Many independent require several referrals from other independents in order to approve a first greeting. Nothing wrong with this but it can sometimes take awhile for a gent to get an okay from his first indy. Common issue.
Its the same for many new ladies who use agencies in order to gain a positive rep before going solo. They use the agencies to build up reviews so that gents on places like TER will be more comfortable seeing them.
p.s- please don't take any of my comments as a knock against agencies. I enjoy both indey's and agencies myself and I do appreciate the time I've spent with the few ladies that I've been able to see so far!
Independant girls are very difficult to go through screening with. I have been turned down becasue they wont accept agency or craigslist/backpage references
For a number of reasons I prefer Independents...but I do enjoy variety. Plus, I find Independents local to DC are seldom available on weekends and most do not care for evening appts....few touring Independents are open for biz on weekends as well. So when I have a "home alone" weekend I do tend to consider agencies.
Also, I appreciate what it takes for a lady to stand on her own. I support the notion of the lady giving me the service receiving the reward for it with no "middle man".
I prefer agencies mostly for the short term availibilty, but also for the variety. I use several agencies and dont think any of them have any personnel info on me besides my first name. However indys sometimes reguire full name,employment info... much more info to be concerned with
I agree, the Indies have the info too. Besides LE concerns with agencies, what about personal concerns with Indies? Like if you pissed her off or she fall in love with you (I know unlikely but possible), or other various scenerios. She would have direct access to make life Hell.
I remember writing a great review (9/9) of an Indie and she was pissed off because I said she had a few extra pounds. I apoligized several times and luckily it cooled down.
Oh, hi! ... Agencies are a much easier entry for someone new and lacking references. I started with agencies, but after meeting a few ladies like you, I now prefer independent very strongly. The reason is not privacy issues. It is mostly the interaction being more personable. Also, I have discovered that I really prefer Asian, and here there is an enormous difference in what you get from a good independent vs an agency. Especially for a bigger guy There is just one local agency I know I will keep visiting - TGND. They are a bit different.
Almost forgot - if you mean the *asian* agencies, folks will go there because of the price. I did. Not anymore, but I can see how some can decide that this is just what they need, that kind of deal.
To me, agency or indy is irrelevant. Either are just as likely to be unavailable, cancel at the last minute or keep my data on file.
If she's physically my type, the TER reviews match what I'm looking for, the donation is within my budget, availability matches mine for outcall and provider refs/agency refs/TER handle will suffice for screening then the Halleluja Chorus begins to play inside my head and I schedule the meeting

Got to agree with StanVA, only independents for me. No one needs to collect my name/phone etc. Went with an agency girl my first time and it was awful; the scheduler/pimp/whatever called three times, and twice she answered...never again.
...initial screening may be a little difficult but once I like someone, I tend to repeat with them and form a LTR. The subsequent visits are a breeze to set up. I also feel that independents are vested in their business and have an incentive to make the client happy and want repeat business. Agency girls are like a revolving door; none seem to stay around very long and thus it's hard to repeat and they really are not that concerned about "going the extra mile" or forming a LTR; just collecting a pay check and if they don't perform well, it's no skin off their nose; the agency gets the bad reputation. I once had an agency girl from Italy who was on the last day of her tour and wasn't returning. It was awful. She was totally detached and mechanical and obviously just concerned with getting it done as quickly as possible. In fairness, I have also had agency experiences that were OK. I also prefer more mature and engaging women and agency girls are almost always under 22.
