Have you ever heard of EXIF data? Most digital cameras encode EXIF data to your digital pics that can be decoded by special software tools. When you take a photo with some smart phones, the GPS coordinates of your location are encoded in the picture. This is called Geotagging.
All that being said, PLEASE be careful about posting cell phone pictures that have been recently snapped. The Geotagged data could be encoded in your picture, exposing your exact location. The accuracy is frightening.
As an experiment, I trolled through the forum here, and in about 5 minutes, I had the GPS location where several photos posted in our forum were taken, as well as the date and time they were snapped. If the lady was still at that location, she increases her risk of being located by anyone with a web browser and the right software.
Most Smart Phones have this capability, which is enabled by default, but can be turned off. Google is your friend. See my link below for more information.
You should really appreciate the extent to which the OP went out of his way and posted a thoughtful post. It clearly shows that he cares for providers' safety.
I think your anger is totally unwarranted. Its quite clear from your post that you already knew what OP posted, so shouldn't be affecting you anyway.
Like an old adage goes - "A good deed never goes unpunished"
There are a couple of programs that are simple to use and free in base format. A good one is Geotag Security, I haven't played with any of the others yet.
