I've never attended a DC meet and greet, but would like to know when they occur - just in case I could attend.

I know there is a "meet and greet" board, but I'm not sure to what extent "DC personnel" participate.

I've shyed away from DC M&G due to I am wary about running into someone I know. What happens if I see someone I know who is single and knows my wife? I can't take that chance. I have attended out of town M&G. Any thoughts?

Same reason I have never attend a MnG - too embarrassing for me, if I run into a friend or a colleague.  Yes, I recognize that means he is a hobbyist too, but still ...

I also like to think of my sessions as pure fantasy time, and I worry meeting providers at a MnG may take that sensation away ...

Making noise about it (even asking questions) is a good guarantee that you will not be invited.

From working and having worked in the DC area's most exclusive restaurants and lounges. I have come across many providers with clients. Usually when they cant decide between a Barolo or an Amarone. Never once have I approached them unless it was pertaining to my role in the restaurant (I am a sommelier).

If I were to show up at a meet and greet I am sure some of these ladies would recognize me and would make for an uneasy situation for both of us. So even if invited I would decline. I am sure it would be fun though.

It wasn't called a M&G, but there were some "attainable" ladies there for a price. I ran into my ex-wife's second husband, my former best friend. When he finally spotted me, he already had one of the ladies on his arm. He avoided me for a long time after that. I guess he didn't realize that I just didn't give a shit.

Beef, wtf does "thoroughly screened" mean? If you're at all interested in protecting yourself, despite wanting to play, some thorough screening methods are simply not possible. Take for instance an indy provider, who wants to know your name, DOB, company, work #, etc. A bit much, but that could be easier if said providers hardware (laptop, hard drive) was encrypted. But no, the info you provide is NOT protected. Any provider or agency, or group for that matter, does not protect their data. You might be okay with that if you're single and don't give a shit, but a lot of people aren't. That said, the M&G would be a hell of a lot more successful if a truly secure verification system were implemented.

Me too.  Excellent way to meet talent-known or unknown, that you normally wouldn't consider.  I think it would definitely reshuffle my "to do" list.

As I travel in and out of the country alot. I am never sure about when these events are or how to get invited or even the rules. So now I finally get it. Unfortunately alot of my hobbying has been in foriegn countries. Many of the ones here in the US have not been written reviews. I guess I need to change that.
