it was a *sting* - in other words, the lady was a cop.

This is not about a legitimate provider being busted, and some of her clients with her.

This happened because the gents did not use resources like TER to be sure they were seeing legit providers.

The moral of the story is:

Ladies - screen screen screen

Gents - screen screen screen - by using the review system.....

To me Tysons has been a great area to meet some great providers. I think you have to be smart about who you go see. Like going to see providers who arent verified here( CL/BP). Not only that, but I have very rarely heard of busts in Tysons, execpt for this. The operation took place in Mt Vernon and Falls Church as well.

The article states that some of the arrests were due to solicitations "...directly outside hotels..."

These guys were caught up in a CL sting and SW sweep.  Stay off of CL and stay away from SWs and you will increase you chances of pleasant hobbying experiences.

the issue there is NOT where the bust happened but that the ladies were somehow identified.

This means that the issue is

poor screening

OR

poor information security

The location is irrelevant.

Fairfax LE enjoys press releases so its your word or your sources.

But it could have happened to anyone who doesn't screen or as suggested post's a full faces pic.

But it is odd that no one else has made comment about the same thing you say happened last week.

It was Oct 1st where they did their sting. - And in that case they were at several locations and did catch some from a SW sting.

---------------------------------

Detectives from the Street Crimes Unit of the Fairfax County Police Organized Crime and Narcotics Division along with several female undercover officers arrested 23 men for soliciting prostitution during a prostitution sting on Thursday, October 1. The operation took place at various locations in the Tysons Corner, Falls Church and Mount Vernon areas of the county. Some female officers, posing as escorts, were solicited online and made arrangements with a suspect to meet at a hotel. Other officers were approached directly outside hotels by men soliciting sex. All of the suspects were released on summonses for solicitation of prostitution.

Where did the cops post ads online (CL? EROS? CV?)?

This apparent bust that was observed by this annonymous person mentioned in this thread that had no press coverage...any details on that on was it an online centric sting? streewalker sting? agency sting?

What upscale hotel in Tyson's officer?

Lets see it wasn't the Hilton or the Ritz?

If you want to be credible you need to provide more info hoss?

Or maybe you definition of upscale is a Super 8 detective?

Read the newspaper article. The ladies were outside the hotel?
Sounds one step above the truck stop to me.

So put up or shut up?

Where is crucial with a sting that targets clients. The local LE may have a task force.

I read the Fairfax LE press release. The clients were IDed NOT the "providers".

I doubt the press release represents the facts though. If they want to milk the op for more client busts they could easily spin the release to the rosy picture you offer.

All I know is that 23 GUYS go nailed and their names were published. We know NOTHING about the women. Time will tell.

There are no "good" and "bad" locations in terms of a sting that targets clients.

The are no "providers" in a sting lol - only police officers posing as providers.

If a gent fails to ascertain that he is seeing a legitimate lady then he is risking a sting - in any location.

w/r/t to providers being IDd - yes - some managers do cooperate with LE. If there are face pictures that really reflect what a lady looks like on the street it is an issue.

If you think you are safer in Fairfax Co outside of Tysons you are not thinking in accord with the statistics....

This just to prove US policy on this topic is pure hypocrisy.  Although Japan outlaws provider services, these services still go on without severe crack down. I highly doubt Japan's crime rate per capita is much more higher than that of U.S.

Instead of focusing their effort on illegal gun trade, drug trade, they spend their effort on this.

1) False. The jurisdiction as a whole is a bad location if it targets clients with organized stings.

2) Sometimes but not always true. LE have never turned a legitimate provider?

3) Yes but only if the legitimate lady remains legitimate. See #2.

4) No argument.

5) I do not think that Fairfax Co is safer outside Tyson's.

1 - Every county in the DC suburbs targets prostitution. Mostly of the street variety but runs stings as well. The statistics show that arrests are highest in two MD counties, followed by Fairfax. Within Fairfax, the statistics show that Tysons is *not* a hotspot.

2 That's not what I'm talking about. I'm talking about the definition of a client sting, which is the point of the OP

3 True - but again not the point I was addressing which was the scenario in the OP

1) Avoid busts.
2) Expose bad logic and faulty use of stats.

I had a date for Oct 1 in Tyson's. I also had a warning. We all have resources beyond newspapers. Hence an alias is a good thing.

I think I dodged a bullet.

That is how things work from where I sit.

1) Statistics are backward looking. If Tyson's is on the cusp of becoming hot backward looking statistics can't tell you that. Other intel might.

2) Still wrong. In a client sting a turned reviewed provider could be quite effective.

3) That scenario relies on a press release from the police. Which can be trusted only to be issued in the police's own interest.

4) and 5) are resolved. It is interesting that you condescend even when you are wrong or irrelevant.

I think your view is too optimistic. Time will tell going forward. Statistics will change as more data arrive or not.

Having seen sex workers at all levels the risk of arrest is always present. The greatest risk is at the street walker level but there should always be vigilance on our parts.
Don't let this press release scare you out of the hobby. The members here have taken a first step in being on this board. A higher level of assurance (as far as reducing risk of arrest and having a high quality date) is to join a screening site.

So if you are an attractive lady checking into a hotel in Tyson's they are checking you out against the pixs, officer.

Good move for the hotel.

In today's economy especially in Fairfax its all about collecting revenue for FCPD.  The time wasted on these stings would hav been better used running a radar trap because it would have generated more revenue.

Sounds like the Sheraton which isn't rally a luxury hotel had some problems.

And I always solicit women outside a hotel n Tyson's.

Also with cameras and cleaning staff it must be pretty obvious who the providers are. DC is the best place for this hobby because they have their hands full with more serious matters.

We all play cute little games that may ultimately get you cleared of a conviction but you'll still get arrested, have your name published and lose your clearance.

She had her money under a magazine and they were waiting for her to step out before they went through her room.  Of course she didn't use the safe.  Kind of awkward for me standing there with a hot young girl who just lost 4 days of wages.  This happened in the Dupont Circle area BTW.

My point is its easy for staff to know who the working girls are so you are trusting them to mind their own business.  I can easily see a manager asking staff to report these activities to them. If I were the manager I'd see if I could work a deal for services, but that is just me.

I am not saying I don't believe anyone, but since arrests are public records the LE have to report them.  Maybe not report what led to the arrests such as sting or undercover ops.

I have been digging through the police reports and can't see anything that talks about the arrests.

I also find it odd that if that many ladies were picked up there hasn't been any chatter from them on the board.  maybe they were CL gals, who knows

You're trying to say that hotel staff print off the pictures of every provider in the DC metro area?  There are 263 listed on Eros alone.  This is not plausible.

No hotel will call LE on a suspected provider unless she is causing a disturbance.  If you did see 5 ladies in handcuffs at this hotel, then it sounds like they were attracting unwanted attention to themselves as a result shear volume.

Oh, and as far as the maid staff is concerned, the ladies I know treat them like queens. They leave the rooms clean, tip for extra towels/sheets, leave boxes of expensive chocolates or some other gesture. The maid staff is the last group they have to worry about.

These are high end hotels and they might be cooperating with LE if asked by LE.  I agree most times everyone looks the other way but that is not a guarantee.

I agree on the photos.  Like I've said before NOTHING prevents LE from arresting anyone to make a point or to create a positive story for themselves.  I'll assume most of these arrests resulted in few convictions but the damage was done.

The person is irrelevant.

Aside from pointing out that there could be agendas on both sides I've kept the argument clean and technical.

The "past statistics" argument is technically flawed, invalid. Your suggestion that all arguments are created equal is wrong.

For example, before 1776 there had been no successful revolutions in the British colonies in North America. GTM's argument would be that a successful revolution in 1776 can't happen because of the prior stats! LOL!

The thing is that a task force conducting stings is a result of a political decision. Prior statistics arguments simply don't apply.

As for being an irrelevant joke, well, isn't everybody? LOL!

My alias post is not pulled because I did not misuse the alias. No special favors. The alias is to protect sources as best as possible. If you think you know who I am, be assured that my main provider side source has not been reviewed. Don't go there.

The "don't worry, be happy" attitude with regard to the news is irresponsible. I detest the use of bad argument and analysis to suggest that the news should be ignored.

That said, I am not overly alarmed. I'm certainly not going to boycott the ladies in Fairfax county. I'll just be a little extra special careful.

I had a lovely time in Fairfax yesterday in fact and am planning on returning soon. More carefully than usual? Yes, until it looks like there is less heat. But there is no reason to avoid it entirely as some have suggested. That goes too far.

So I've given your little rant more attention than it deserves on its own. It did give me an opportunity to clarify a few points. Thanks for that.

As for your advice... you will have to establish its worth on the basis of good and valid argument before I will consider it. You failed completely to do that in this post. So, thanks, but, no thanks.

The October 1 arrest of 23 men was only reported in FCPD press release on October 8 and it appears in your link only on October 16. So while reporting may be required, timeliness is apparently not required.

There are two incidents discussed here. The Oct 1 incident and the one of indefinite date reported by MyIdentityCrisis. The first is verified. The second... it may be too soon to tell.

1) Many of the faces on Eros are blurred. Those don't get printed out. The ladies who are local don't change daily. So the only daily maintenance that would be required is to print a few new visiting ladies who show their faces.

2) Hotel management may try to profit from deliberately looking the other way. A provider may be under pressure to provide a kickback or other favors to management for protection. Change of management or greed may result in a collapse of the arrangement and a call to the police. She may also simply overstay her welcome or management may change and become hostile.

3) But does the provider tip enough? If not staff can become difficult, perhaps even rip off the provider.

The world is a more difficult place for providers than you imagine.

I have very good info that is was the Sheraton P at Tyson's corner.

As far as Crystal City being hot, I live here and have had no problems but then again I am not securring a hotel room.  My "assumption", when hotels have rooms available they list with the discount hotel sites, when they have a bunch of young ladies with close by address's it brings unwanted attention.

Dumbjock 2 Reviews 3012 reads

1. Again, no one is going to spend that much time reviewing Eros/Cityvibe, et al. trying to ID every mildly attractive woman that checks into the hotel.  And a lady checking in may be a little curious about the wait while the staff checks her face against the dozens of today's print out.

2. OK, a provider may be under pressure to provide a kickback to mgmt for protection, but (here is the important part) she is under NO pressure to ever use that hotel again. No sane lady would utilize a business that is blackmailing her. Especially with the hotel capacity in the DC metro area.

3. As for the maid service, it's more than the tip.  It's cleaning your own room and treating them with respect that engenders the fidelity.

I am very aware of the difficulty of both sides of the hobby. Runaway paranoia doesn't help matters.

More_Rigor_Please 2426 reads

There is no runaway paranoia here.

1. You can search for previous posts about LE activity on the DC board to find that providers have reported the use of pictures to ID providers in just the way you dismiss. I recall something in December 2008 roughly about similar tactics in Alexandria and Springfield.

2. Depends on the provider. Some like to remain in a relatively stable location so it is easier for their regular clients to find them. Your grasp of the incentives and business reasons for finding it profitable to stay put is not subtle nor is it realistic.

3. Fidelity in this business is mostly about the money. No maid is going to be insubordinate to her management if that management wants to cooperate with LE. Get real.

You really seem to think that this is a very happy playground. It is mostly. But the exceptions are not zero.
