This is one of those sucky days.
We have a fairly stringent hiring process for our two labels DreamsEscorts and DivineCompanions. As a rule I don't work with anyone who has previously worked in the industry. The truth is only about 3% percent of applicants make it to interview and 1.5 % make past level  one orientation and training.

Usually I've very good instincts about weeding out those who do not have compatible value systems in line with our company mission  and business model. After all what would be the point?  They would just fail, not show up when the are required to or honor their agreements anyway.

Clients have providers who don't show thereby wasting their time. Providers have clients who cancel or no show and waste their time. For us, it's clients, sometimes associates who can't keep their agreements and job applicants. It's rare for this to happen, but today I had an applicant get 70% of the way through training and decide to not follow through.

It's my own dam fault I shouldn't have given her a second chance when I told her the first time to take a hike because of her obsessive control freak'ism and negative based model of the world. But she begs for a second chance, agrees to follow  the rules and I wont regret it.  Ah huh sure..  Then the night before i receive a  message she can't do this ya da ya and then 5 minutes later I get a forget that last message see you tomorrow.

* slams heel of hand into his forehead*

Duh.. dummy ignoring red flags because you want to have faith in humanity.

It wouldn't be so bad if we could use the room for call to recoup the expense since we need large rooms for photographic equipment and backgrounds. Oh well, the cost of doing business. I suspect my irritation is NOT about costs and more about my time. I'm annoyed at myself because if one of the Agency owners I mentor had called me, I would have told them to walk away. A person like this ultimately will not honor their agreements and will inconvenience your clients.

You think running an agency is easy? {rude laugh}.

Dreams is going on seven years soon and I've lost count of the number of operations which have come and gone. As any profession, we have our it's in's and outs you just can't perceive of unless you're swimming in the lake.  Well, it's never a dull moment.

Ok whining is done.

give someone a 2nd chance and have them blow it off, than not give it at all and lose a good associate.

Even baseball gives 3 strikes before they call an out, don't they !

Rule 1: NEVER take anyone back if they resign or are dismissed.

Only exception to the rule: If they have done something to better themselves and offer you some advantage gained while away.

Surprised at you Lee. Maybe
"you did not build that"

was I should have ended it when she  came back (that was the second chance), then sends me the I can't do this message the night before, then the never mind the last message five mins later. Remember, when I gave her a second chance she gave me assurances of behavior and intent.

I should have known then. History has proven repeatedly it never ends well.

I don't completely disagree with rule one, I would say apply it on a case by case basis. I could see a circumstance where a model employee received a better offer, which you couldn't match. Subsequently, having moved on in the correct and honorable way  and now they want to come back because that company is out of business. In the Civilian world, I could see that happening.

In my world, it "usually" is not a good idea.
You have no idea if that person havng now worked elsewhere in the industry is compromise and has given you up to save their ass.  In such cases the final determinate with me on the  rare occasion I take some one back is:

1) How log they were away?
2) What were they doing?
3) There character as a person.

Of course three is the one which is the most important to me, in an industry which attracts people with the least amount of character.

In the case of my posting above, she never made it "Associate" status, thereby much of what we have shared, doesn't directly apply.
Surprised at you Lee. Maybe  "you did not build that"
*laugh*

Being a moderate myself I'm sure that ending comment has bristled a few "lefty" hairs.... Of course my favorite quote since we are sharing is:

"“If somebody wants to build a coal-fired power plant, they can. It’s just that it will bankrupt them,” Obama said, responding to a question about his cap-and-trade plan. He later added, “Under my plan … electricity rates would necessarily skyrocket.”  - January 2008 interview San Francisco Chronicle -
I can't deny, administration policy did accomplish that.

Not to wax political which never ends well on forums such as this.

CurlyW, MajorReno thank you for your contributions and time gentlemen.

Sincerely,

Since you have to deal with young women with no experience you can just imagine what goes through their mind. I did notice you mentioning steps to the final first appointment. I'm sure there are signs you see along the way but scared stiff and guilt being easy for some to deal with over money. Many young women have glorified this lifestyle before searching to enter it. I would imagine even with the best psychotherapist it is really tough to find the true self of a young lady who wants to manipulate everyone to get what she wants. The final move is doing the deed. It's even tougher to manipulate your own inner self to do something that goes against your grain. Your right in saying how few ladies get passed the job interview but i'm sure few get to the first appointment if their unable to perform. Thank God for that or you would have many angry customers.

I'm glad this young lady moved on for her sake but sorry for your very bad time. I'm not being facetious here but glad another young lady didn't let greed take over for her own inner feelings. After all many of us have daughters. I am glad you are so diligent in working with steps so young ladies can think before they act others don't.

No matter what the business, middle management blows. The owners use you to do there dirty work and the people that you manage manipulate you for their own gain.  "What a world, what a world!"  In order to be middle management you must be heartless bitch, viscerally.   If this ain't you, go hangout with the worker bees.  Turning tricks is a lot less stressful or so I've heard.  Like you said, I've never, swam in that lake.

When you have a gut feeling and when someone is failing from the beginning, just got to let it go and move on.  Maybe once in a blue moon you will miss a good one.  More likely you will save yourself a lot of hassle and wasted time if you just draw the line and move on.  Too many fish in the sea.

The hiring process is the most frustrating part of the business. In the years I've been around I've never seen so many people die. Several times I have received, "OMG I can't start now cause my grandma/cousin/brother/dog/uncle's sister's cousin died". I feel your pain.

A man who will give them love and security in life.  What men want - love and children with that woman.

Ask yourself, if you had a daughter, you want her to be a housewife, doctor, teacher, or a provider?

Provider will take your money, give you 5 min of ecstasy, but she won't carry your children in her womb.

But the wife gives you love and children. Wife makes you a winner.

With provider, she and her agent/bf/husband are the winner$.

Perhaps with some providers you are correct, but they can be weeded out with ease.

I have met several providers who have offered me much, much more than "five minutes of fun".  Intimacy, confidence, intimacy again, kindness, intimacy again, non-judgementaliism, intimacy again, understanding.  And much much more.
