When I came a few months ago I had a few complaints on my location so any suggestions on a happy medium upscale area to stay in

are Tyson's Corner and Dupont Circle. Very popular with providers. Some providers have also started hosting in Dulles area a lot more than what I used to see a few years ago.

Since I don't know where you stayed last time, I can't really comment on whether the complaints were justified or not.

Crystal City was great so was Arlington and Alexandria near metro stops. White House and Dupont were good too near metro stops.

The construction in Tysons Corner was a bit much for me and Dulles was kinda far out also. Everyone in the DC is great! Enjoy your tour there.

2 kinds of hobbyists here, those comfortable going to an urban location near Metro and those who don't like to get out of their cars and use public transportation and thus don't like downtown locations due to traffic and $$ parking.  Many visiting ladies split their time between a downtown location (like dupont Circle) and a suburban location (like Tysons) so they can keep both groups happy.  For one location, I don't know why more ladies don't use Crystal City in Arlington.  It has many hotels, its own Metro stop, and most of the underground parking is free after 4:00 PM & all day on weekends.  Just my $ .02.
