I read and post to both, though my posting frequency has dropped off a lot in recent years. I think the MD board serves a useful purpose, as there are quite a few members who are far enough north that DC and northern Virginia are essentially out of reach -- for me, it's almost easier to get to Philadelphia than to Tysons Corner.
land board. First, my place of residence had a three way with DC, Nova, Maryland, and including Baltimore. This area is unique because, depending on where you live, you can conveniently drive 15-20 miles and go to DC, to Maryland, or DC to VA, or to different parts of Nova, and including Baltimore.
I realize that because of the location, many users in this regional thread will associate themselves to DC, if they live in Nova, or other similar parts. However, I see many reviewers mislabel the cities. For example, the reviewer states Washington DC as a primary city, with no secondary city, and it may state the location as BWI, Cockeysville, or Glen Burnie. All of which are in Maryland, and the correct city that should be selected is Baltimore, and not Washington DC. I am not sure if they just updated their cities, but, now, you can click Baltimore as a city, and check new reviews for that city.
Depending on where the provider is in Maryland for example, Prince George's and Baltimore, then I will click Baltimore as the primary city, and Washington DC as a secondary city. When the review is approved, it will appear on both boards. As for Washington DC, if its Montgomery, all parts of DC, and Nova, I will select Washington DC as the primary city, and Baltimore as a secondary city. Again, when the review is approved, it is posted in both cities under the new review features because both cities where mentioned.
I just wanted to clarify this because I see many hobbyist who mislabel the location. Also, since my residence had a three way with these locations, I participate on both boards, but my primary board is in DC because of my residence. However, it only takes me 20 minutes to go to Baltimore, and 10 minutes to go to Nova. So, I participate on both boards. The Baltimore boards does serve many purposes, and there are consistently many reviews posted in that specific board. Its also very useful as with this board, but its not as active as DC. Anyways, I just wanted to clarify properly labeling the location of the reviews, and if your place of residence had a three way, then you might also want to check out the Maryland board too.
One local board is enough for me. Lol maybe if that board was equally active as DC I might.
And the reason why reviews are posted for both is because then it will result in confusion and wrongly placed cities precisely due to reasons you stated.
The entire area is still DC metro area... Greater washington dc metro area... Etc
Maryland board is generally slow, but it serves it purpose. It's very helpful too. I can understanding your situation. Don't knock it until you try it though, especially since you close to baltimore. I've found many wonderful providers there in the Maryland board. It's worth the time looking at. It's almost like a new bread of hobbyist are in those boards Its some good stuff down there.

My work situation changed (mostly for the better), but I no longer have a lot of time available. I also had a major disruption in my family that I had to deal with for a while. I'm back, mostly, but time and money are issues of concern. I'll still let my voice be heard, though.
Although the mods wisely allow discussion on this board to include the greater area, TER now clearly considers Washington and Baltimore separate cities. I was one of the people who requested last year that Baltimore get its own board. Had I known that new boards would be created for ads I probably would not have made that request, since what was the Washington board a year ago is now four separate boards, while all of Florida only gets two.
But I do like the changes. Although this board is more active than the Maryland board, each is still among the more active boards across all of TER. And as I've been checking new reviews for Baltimore I'm seeing more reviews posted each day than I would have imagined, even while some Washington reviews continue to have their location specified as BWI. Have Baltimore reviews been getting lost to "Other Cities" this whole time?
Over time I'm sure that people will become accustomed to these changes and TER will be an even more valuable resource to our community for it.
