After taking a few weeks to read the board and search the reviews, I decided to make my first venture into the hobby. I chose Alana based on her majority of quality reviews, some from the regular posters, which said she provided what I was looking for. Well, I showed up at her hotel at the specified time, and then no one would answer the phone to give me the room number. I noticed that on my second call the phone had been turned off because it went straight to voicemail. Can I post a review of this, or is my wasted time only visible by doing a message search?
My "real" name is African-American sounding, even tho I'm a white guy, and I've also been stood up (but not by Alana). I've often wondered if my name was the reason. This is probably the only area where discrimination (or personal taste in partners) is OK, in my opinion, but none of us like not being given a chance.
I'm African-American and it's never been a problem for me with providers. The only time it's even been mentioned was, when I first started hobbying and, one of the providers I saw said that should always tell providers that I'm black. It seemed kind of silly to me, so I don't do it.
Not to be too much of a smart ass, but my Nationality is American; my ethnic background is African-American.
I'm your typical white guy. Blue eyes and a few freckles. I don't think she ever saw me anyway. I never went into the hotel, and no one answered the phone to speak to me while they looked for me outside. Thank you for answering my question though. It's a shame there isn't a way to record a simple no show along with the reviews.
Posted your complaint. While it is unfortunate experience, it happens often. Most of the time it has a reasonable explanation. How each member handles this is often disputed.
For me, I don't post my complaints publicly. I decide to let it go or ask why. If given a chance and not publicly beaten, they usually have a reasonable explanation. Now, this is just me, as you will see from another post on the board some who complain publicly with tact are rewarded. I don't consider that something worth taking the risk of having the provider DNS you.
I do share the no shows with others back channel. It is also unlikely I will try to work it out and see the provider, but I have on couple of occasions and it was worth it not publicly broadcasting the no show no call.
As for a review - no, you have no information to provide. I could be wrong, ask TER Staff or Admin. Our Mod might step in and help define the policies of posting, but they are reasonable well written.
Move On - or try to work it out if you must see this provider. Your first impressions in this hobby will be remembered and might even be detailed on the ladies board - watch your step - LOL
