I had a date to take a young woman to the Sunday performance of “Giselle” by the Bolshoi Ballet at the Kennedy Center on Sunday at 1:30 PM.  I dutifully bought the tickets for $168.  Then, because her grandfather underwent cardiac surgery, she told me that she had to fly to Puerto Rico on Sunday.

So I bought two tickets for the Saturday performance for $270.  How she has informed me that she is sick and cannot attend today’s performance either.

OK, I’m determined to use these tickets.  The reviews of the ballet were wonderful.  I am not going to waste $450.

Is anyone available tomorrow afternoon to attend the ballet at the Kennedy Center at 1:30 PM?  I can meet you at the Kennedy Center, or I can pick you up.  We can attend dinner after the ballet, or not, as you choose.

This would be two+ hours for the ballet, per se, and optional dinner.  My deal with the young woman did not include sex, but that is always an option.

......I realize that situations arise beyond our control, but I would never not expect to pay for a ticket should I cancel.  

   I have one of the strictest cancellation policies, and when and if I have to cancel, I always give the gentleman a gift of a "dollar" credit or time.

   While you say that sex was not part of the deal, you should let readers know if you will be compensating tham for their time, or just picking up the tab for the ballet and dinner.

I paid for the ballet tickets and dinner, and I was to pay her for one hour.  If we added sex, that was extra.

ACTUALLY the situation is even worse, for her cancellation was preceded by a sex-less overnight.  She arrived in the late evening and was sneezing.  By the time we bedded down she was just not interested.  I hoped that we could resume in the morning, but she was too tired to even wake up  let alone perform.  I must create a separate thread about women too sick to perform.

No, I did not charge her for the tickets.  I assume it’s a part of this profession
