Being without power all day yesterday we checked into a familiar hotel in Tysons. I’ve never gone there to sleep for the night; only for hour-long sessions in a room or some fun with Lady Nurse in the parking garage.

Anyone else have trouble sleeping last night in an all too familiar hotel? Extra points for landing the same room.

What happens to me is I'll be in a meeting at hotels that I hobby. I've been 'caught' knowing the layout of the hotel better than I should more than a few times. Always have an answer to, "Oh, have you been here before?".  Mine is always, "Yes, I've been to meetings here before". It works because you both are at a meeting in the hotel, so it wouldn't be unusual or out of place to have been there before.

I actually like being in the same hotel, brings back good memories.

Others lost power still out. And I don’t watch news but someone said 95 closed because signs for Potomac Mills mall is threatening 95, is that true?

If I’m hosting from a hotel I usually sleep there anyway, but I have sometimes been a little too familiar with a place for my comfort. I have not hosted from a certain place in over 6 months because the last time I went, I knew the bellman and front desk crew on the day and night shift.

I sometimes have to stop myself from revealing too much about my knowledge of local hotels when speaking with vanilla friends. I feel like don't have a great excuse for knowing so much about (some) hotels. "I've been to a lot of conferences here" works very nicely for the JW Marriott, the Willard, the Marriott Wardman Park or the Marriott Marquis, but not so much for some of the other hotels in town.
