I know about one of the sites you are talking about for Virginia. For some reason they are not keeping it up to date. The one county where they get the data from is purging their info on a regular basis. They outed a bunch of guys last year in the fall of 2009. This resulted in hobby activity moving across the Potomac to Maryland. The number of arrests in Maryland since August of 2010 is unprecedented, more than 200 people have been busted in counties around DC and Baltimore.

I also heard about that hotel in DC it brings shivers to my spine when I heard about what happened. I know one provider who got busted in that one of the DC stings.

Operation “SAFE STAY”

Over the past six months, (June 1, 2010 through November 30, 2010), detectives assigned
to the Special Enforcement Section conducted multiple investigations with the common purpose
of reducing illegal activity occurring in and around Anne Arundel County hotels and motels. The
investigations were encompassed under Operation “SAFE STAY” and had the goal of
specifically targeting hotel and motel occupants in Anne Arundel County, who are utilizing these
establishments to conduct illegal activity such as narcotics trafficking and prostitution. Hotels
and motels can be places of opportunity for a variety of illicit activities because those involved in
criminal activity find a sense of security in the anonymity provided by staying at these
establishments. Detectives worked with hotel and motel management and staff to educate them
on what signs to look for and how to greater assist police in combating illegal activity. The
ultimate objective is to provide a higher level of safety and security for visitors to Anne Arundel
County.

Detectives worked with the Maryland Human Trafficking Task Force and the Federal
Bureau of Investigation’s Child Exploitation Task Force on several successful operations. These
operations include Operation “ESCAPE”, which provides an avenue of escape to individuals
forced into prostitution, and Operation “Cross Country”, which is a nationwide effort aimed at
combating the sex trafficking of children.
During the course of the investigation, detectives executed eight search warrants and
conducted 12 Prostitution and Human Trafficking operations along with several drug interdiction
initiatives at a total of 14 hotels and motels in the Laurel and North County areas. A total of 35
adult suspects were arrested.

It is just harder to find them on the gov. sites but if you know where to look, you will actually find more arrests in VA and DC than you find in MD.

MD has adopted a policy of going public with the news about it, DC and NVA have not.

Although many might think MD is a hot now, I argue that NVA and DC is hotter as they do get the girls/pimps and don't say anything to the press about it

A few months ago a well known hotel in DC worked with LE and they caught over 20 hobbiest in a sting. They even had the patty wagon in the back of the hotel and loaded them up as they caught them.

and I find it striking that some on this board will jump to the defense of the perps regardless. On other boards around the country I seen folks be a little more discriminating and condemn pimps. Here, people are more likely to close their eyes and pretend it's not a problem.

I've seen many posts here warning against hobbying in MoCo. But there have been arrests in NoVA and DC as well. There are regular outcall stings in DC and NoVA to catch providers. And you all know about the NoVA busts less than 2 months ago of two Asian agencies where all their locations were raided in a concerted effort.

I know the paranoia has been high lately....but for some high profile hobbiests....that's enough for us to truly go underground....boards are nice and all for sharing info...but when we get busted...no one on the board is there to help....it's basically SOL for you bud!

I stay the heck outta of NOVA now and never went to MD....mainly b/c the calibur of BWI gals were low...I miss the usual agencies and independents I used to frequent.

But now business takes me to Europe and Canada a lot and there are no such rules/issues etc...

I recommed for other high profile hobbiests to do the same...the risk for family if you have any is high...but at the end of the day it might mean your job/career/future...just not worth it...a multi-million dollar contract to me trumps a 1h session with a hot chick any day!

A while back in another State, I was in a hotel lobby where a rather large escort event was happening. What I found interesting was I could pick out 50% of the escorts when they checked in. Why? Because they drew unnecessary attention to themselves. For some reason this business often attracts women who feed off of negative public sexual attention. This seems to be very true of "some" backpage providers of lower socioeconomic status to the point you can seem the coming a mile away...

VeronicaAtl has a point, you may not like it... but it doesn't make her any less fundamentally correct.

The majority of the cullings from the herd seem's to be the dumb, the slow and the old. Nothing new here....

This is typical government BS. Funds are authorized to go after the exploitation of  women and children pressesd into prostitution and is used to pursue drug cases and concentual prostitution. Out of the 31 suspects presented in the press release only three were charged with trafficking minors. There were 15 drug suspects and 13 prostitution suspects ( the youngest being 28 yr. old).
  When you figure that there  were FBI, MSP, and AACoPD agents and officers, support staff, and prosecutors involed in this investigation and all that was yielded were three arrests for the crimes that this investigation was purportedly pursuing this was a dud. This release was a misrepresentation of purpose and the investigation a misappropriation of funds. If any private enterprise operated this way they'ld be nailed to the wall.

I used to go there often for work and boy it was fun!

It amazes me when so very few arrests result in convictions-most are nolle prosqued r put on the Stet Docket

Two things; First, do a search on Police sting operations, or similar and guess what?  Cops all over the country  are wasting money this way.  Second; buy a bug detector and use it!  In todays world, no cop would leave home without his wire.  There are devices available that can detect any radiation from a police bug and are reasonably priced.  Mine works just fine.  Choose wisely....
