Their new building at 14 & Q has an efficient STD screening center with improved procedures & unlike at the old building the STD screening staffer did not decide to take the afternoon off while I was still with the HIV screener.

My PCP gives me a lecture everytime I request std stuff and refused to test me last time.  

Apparently, my insurance only allows every three months, not every month.

Very frustrating.

The intake form asks for name, address, last 4 digits of social security number, phone #.  They don't seem to care what you write down, but you might need any part of that info to confirm when you go down the hall for test or when you call in for results.

First stop is HIV test, where someone will prick your finger with a device that you can barely feel. Results take a minute or two.

Second stop is the STD center where someone else takes two vials of blood from your arm. Then she hands you a handy dandy kit to take into the bathroom so you can piss in a cup and stick slender Q-tips up your ass and dab the back of your throat. Very easy, just don't contaminate the swabs as you handle them. Results take eight days and they need a working phone number.

Remember:  Negative results are positive news!  

I've heard about DC having some clinics that handle free STD testing. You can do some online search on that too.
