Lurkers! What's the deal for lurking?regular_smile

According to a TER survey, majority who read these boards are "lurkers" who hardly ever participate on discussions but still read.

So, I got curious. Is it mainly just fear of getting on LE radar? Or simply not wanting anything to be posted public? I'm guessing it's a little bit of both but mostly the first.

One lurker has told me that it took him 3 years before making his very first post. In that case, what prompted to make that first post?  Was it as simple as getting up one morning and saying 'oh what the hell, fock it, what's the big deal' or did you want to connect with a hobbyist that sort of grew on you?

Just curious...  I'm guessing one or two lurkers will participate on this thread even though it goes against the "lurker status". ;-)

OK for the  last 5 or so years I've  been Lurking . When I first joined I posted all of the time, however when a serious subject comes too many guys are posting foolish comments. That stuff just gets old

I have to agree with captaindan. I have been around for a long time but hardly participate in discusions these days. I also rarely hobby but still like to check in to see how the hobby world is turning.

I recently saw this board under a year ago and enjoy reading it from time to time.  I find its better to learn by listening/reading than chiming in all the time.  This is my second time posting.

For the most part, I just don't have anything to add to any of the discussions.  When I have something to say, I say it.

I've been around for awhile, but only chime in when I have something useful to add to the discussion

On most Internet boards and forums, the majority of visitors are lurkers who do not post and contribute to the conversation.  An escort review board, in this sense, is no different from a chess board or a hotel review board or any other type of board ...
