Almost everyone believes that the above is fully true.  It is sort of like a "what you don't see won't hurt you" syndrome.  Believe me, a great deal of what you don't see or hear CAN eventually hurt you.  In fact, that is the whole idea.  Enemies don't always tip off their activities.  They want to keep the "element of surprise" on their side.
