Another tragic loss due to drugs....  Such a shame and waste....

RIP

We do not for sure if t was drug abuse.
It could be, or it could have been from prior use.
It is always a waste.

None the less all we know for sure is a great talent left us too soon again.

Did she die here in DC? what's this have to do with the local hobby?

Still a tradgedy.

The thug, Bobby Brown, had seemed to be getting his life back on track recently. Unfortunately Whitney couldn't shake the demons he introduced her to.

I suspect in the days to come we will find another Michael Jackson/Conrad Murray siutation with some doctors giving her whatever she wanted!

....Whitney was no virgin when it came to drug and alcohol abuse.  She was sufficiently knowledgeable to the pitfalls and PRACTICE of drug and alcohol abuse PRIOR to marrying Bobby.  As a matter of fact, it was widely known that she had her own embedded hood-rat prior to meeting Bobby's inner hood-rat.

Quote from a 2002 interview with Diane Sawyer:

When asked by Sawyer which vice – alcohol, marijuana, cocaine or pills – was the “biggest devil” for her, Houston said, “No one makes me do anything I don’t want to do. It’s my decision, so the biggest devil is me. I’m either my best friend or my worst enemy. And that’s how I have to deal with it.”

We all lose when talent, skills or a life is lost to addiction.  An addict is ultimately responsible for their own actions and we can all resolve to be more aware of addicts in our lives, how to assist them, yet not enable them.

Her live performance at Superbowl XXV of The Star Spangled Banner is breathtakingly beautiful and poignant.
