The current buzz is a good wakeup call for all hobbyist.  If you haven't been careful, you should start being more cautious now.  You should not be calling from your work phone or main cell.  Pick up a cheap prepaid cell phone and buy minutes on a prepaid card.  You can buy a prepaid cell phone for $10-$30 and a card that will give you a year for $99 at your local Target or Walmart.  Pay cash and the phone number will be very difficult to trace back to you.  If you get calls that you don't want, toss the phone and start over.  Don't hobby on your work computer and try not to use your home computer.  Buy a small netbook or internet access device for hobby purposes and connect at public WiFi spots away from your workplace or home.  Open an email account under a bogus name for hobby purposes.   With your prepaid phone number, email address and fake name as the contact info for the provider, you can lower the odds of bad things happening.
