For me, while I'm termed a Hobbyist, in the "real world," so to speak, I'm the Trick, John. I never saw this coming, that one day I'd be a Trick. If when I was 20 and you told me that one day I would pay for pussy and be a Trick I'd bet my left nut and first born that that would never happen. But here I am 30 years later a "Trick." Does that term sting some? Hmmmm....don't really know and/or have I been doing this too long for it to matter.
Same for the ladies. While the terms provider, escort, courtesan are used on TER. The more common vernacular is "Prostitute" and "Whore." This was the point of the other thread i read....that a lady would not meet with a client again because during the heat of the moment and his dirty talk he referred to her as a "Whore." She apparently did not like it and refused to see him again.
1. Ladies, does that term offend you?
2. Ladies, are you surprised that you now have on your resume' that you are and/or were once a prostitute?
Maybe it aint always hobby, but strip club girls put out...it's a new day. Ya fav athlete today be trickin in the strip club...them Miami dolphins dudes stayed in the strip club and talked about who was down to fuck. We came up watching porn on the internet, meeting women online be it instant messenger then facebook/twitter. We used to on demand and a lil $ for end goal means nothing. So, the thread was regarding language and how the "real" language/terms of what TER is all about may offend the participants.

1) Call me whatever you want, just don't call me late for dinner.
2) Sticks and Stones may break my bones, but names will never hurt me.
Maybe I am a bit old fashioned and don't get modern times, but I think people have become a bit over-sensitive to even the slightest of remarks. Do not take anything serious on a Fuck board, right? Still, I have my moments of taking myself to seriously, so easier said than done. Sometimes, being a human is a bitch. HaHa

I don't think I can say that I never saw myself doing this.
I grew up in a small town and never would have had the opportunity, but definitely took the opportunity early on when it presented itself. I have no problem or hang-ups that this is something I do. I wish society were more accepting of it. Actually, if society were more accepting of a a lot of things we would all be better off.
As for the terms / names, they do not offend me because I feel there is a definite difference between a hobbiest and a trick or john. I don't see street walkers, and generally do research on anyone I see, like a hobbiest would there hobby.
et me be clear, I am using an alias because I don’t want to get hate mail in my PM box.
I have seen similar discussions over the years and always have the same reaction…people who worry about what they are called are not comfortable with what they are doing. They should either get comfortable or stop doing it.
Actually, I prefer Trick or John to Hobbyist. I am not sure how the word made its way from model airplane builders into the world of Hookers and Mongers. Trick and John are much more descriptive, stand no chance of being confused with model airplane builders and I am very comfortable with what I do and have been doing for a long time. How long? There was a motel close to my college campus that always had a stable of working girls available. During certain hours on certain days they offered 15-minute specials to the college guys. I would save my money and take advantage of the offer. That was several decades ago and I have been doing it at various intervals ever since. Not only is it fun, but also it is a lot less complicated than some of the affairs I have had. Not to mention that my wife was far less worried about me seeing a pro than having an affair.
Not being a woman, it is not advisable to answer for women so; I will just relay an episode in my life. Several years ago, I met a woman at an outdoor café, chatted her up and got her phone number. We had been dating for a couple of months when she called and asked if it was O.K. to drop by my place, which was fine with me. She said she was bothered by the fact that she had not been honest with me. That and a few other details prompted me to ask if she worked for an Escort Service. Her reply was “no, it’s a mobile whorehouse. Only outcall and no one has yet hired me to just escort them. I am a whore and they pay to fuck me.”
She thought that after her “confession” or whatever it was, I would not want to continue the relationship. She was wrong and we dated for a couple of years. I moved and she went back to teaching school, but we kept in touch for several years. She had a very good attitude, was comfortable with what she was doing, didn’t feel guilty and did not want to be called an escort. She once told me that she was paid to be a prostitute and only in highly unusual circumstances would she turn down a Trick. On the other hand, escorting someone to a concert/movie/event or asking someone to escort her was her choice, not a job she was paid to do
some of these terms such as Whore, Trick, or John can be offensie given the fact that
we live in a judgemental society. Also, many of these girls are just trying to get back on their feet and don't consider this business for the rest of their lives. It would obviously hurts their feelings. I'd use the terms client and provider. These terms could be way less offensive if society were more liberal EOM.
Very interesting points for discussion!
1. The term "whore" only offends me if it is said in a disrespectful way, by a disrespectful person, which thankfully has never happened to me personally. My girl friends and I have actually used this word and other terminology, albeit not often, to refer to ourselves.
For example, which leads to answering your next question, once my friend said to me, "I can't believe we are [whores]!" and we laughed together about it.
2. Am I surprised? Yes and no. Had someone told me ten years ago that I'd be a high-end escort (or an escort at all), I would have strongly disputed the notion. I was an innocent, Catholic, high school virgin who had just started professional modeling! However, for me a series of events took place which seem to have led me to this path, so when I consider the past few years of my Life, I am not at all surprised that I am now an escort. Nor am I regretful
I look forward to reading more responses on this matter!
